Tallyn Da Silva #270

This is a perfect example of stats not telling the full picture... you know who leads the comp for missed tackles right now? Kurt Capewell & yet you hear nothing about him being a bad defender.

Like when you see a halfback missing a tackle on a winger down the side line, Any old halfback - No one in particular.... all the experts are blasting the halfback for missing the tackle.

No mention of the Winger and Centre that are defending outside him
aren't even in the Frame.

Capewell is a great example - He's missing a few other players tackles...
So is Api
- Says more about our middles than it does about Api.

Old mates point is right though,
He's not going to get less worn out as he gets older while still making them...
Again, Doesn't say much for our middles.

It was already at "that point" because -

1. The club intended to re-sign Koroisau according to the News Corp report
2. Numerous clubs expressed interest due to a shortage of dummy halves in the NRL.
It wasn't at that point at all. This happened during negotiations.

So in 2027, it will be Api or TDS, some people would still rather Api?

TDS who could potentially be a top tier player (Yes we could actually have one) with 10-12 years in front of him, or APi on a steep incline.

Really?
-‘Who could potentially’
-$600,000 asking price
- manager stated If api is resigned he may have to look elsewhere

could all be issues why TDS is not re signed in preference to API

3 is a lot man, are you counting this year in that?
He may prove us wrong, though Api would probably be the only hooker to do so other than Cameron Smith, who relied on a very different skill set to still be able to adequately contribute for so long.

Even now, sure, Api can play 80, but Penrith knew a few years ago that he was better utilised for 60 minutes or less.

Believe Richardson when he is quoted as follows -

“Tallyn's decision I think will be based around what we do with Api and that's fair enough. He wants to play first grade.”

And Newscorp -

Da Silva is off-contract at the same time as Apisai Koroisau, and News Corp are reporting the captain will be offered a new deal.

I dont think he can play 80 effectively now.
He has done it 27 times over the past 3 seasons for 5 wins @ 19% success rate.
When he shares the role we have won 9 from 18 @ 50% success rate.

Yes we are talking about 2027, not now.
This discussion is ridiculous.

do you have the 27 games available to share mate.

Id like to dig into that stat, because I find it hard to believe it would be an Api issue.. and more just a convenient stat that can be painted to say we lose when API doesn't share minutes

Im not blaming him, but the numbers dont lie. We are much much more likely to win when he gets a break.
As weve always known
For many years now.

I agree that Api is better utilised for 60 minutes and should have TDS on at the 25-30 minute mark and for the start of the second half thus allowing Api to comeback for the end of the games to close out.

I was watching him in the defensive line on Friday and he was jumping out of the line to effect his tackles and then racing back into the defensive line which is all effort and what we all love about his passion to the club, however it is not sustainable for all games and his longevity.

The use of the bench is not suited to him playing 80 minutes

I would hope TDS sees what is out there and decides to stay loyal to the Tigers as I had the pleasure of touring the COE with him as a host and he is a fine young man.

Says a lot our coaching staff and their game management.

I can believe that Api is better playing 60-70 mins then 80 minutes. However if I need a backup for 10-20 minutes then I don't want a hooker only on the bench I am looking for someone who can play either lock/second row or backs and that can manage 20 mins in the hooker role be it at the start or middle of the match.

In that case it isn't TDS - if I am looking internally its getting 20 mins out of Mason who can then also cover the halves, fullback and outside backs at a stretch or Charlie Murray who type who could play 20 mins at hooker or Haywood coming through who could cover hooker or halves

Looking outside the club the perfect off contract replacement would be Silvia Havili although at 32 he is aging so a slightly younger version of him

I would give Api 50 minutes only.
He is on the downhill part of his career and we need a replacement ready within 2 years Id suspect.

I'm not questioning you mate, I'm asking if you can share the info you are using so I can take a look at it.. Because numbers can very much lie.. I'd like to do some analysis myself

I just went through the games hes played and noted the minutes played. The analysis is not any deeper than that. Heres the records:

I wasn't tbh...I think he can be a starter in 26 & 27 and bench/utility in 28? But hey, predicting what will happen in one week is tricky let alone three years! Don't think he should be playing 80 even now though so who knows, could certainly burn him out if we keep it up IMO...
