Tallyn Da Silva #270

Strange the club would put out a video on him if he was heading out the exit gates .
By the way. Jared Haywood is said to be equally comfortable in the halves and in fact even when at 9, regularly jumps out of dummy half to be first receiver. He toook the game by the scruff of the neck last week , from first receiver, to level the score with seconds to go.
I don’t know if he is heading out the gates only highlighting the current conundrum he is facing.
Yes I’m aware of Jared Haywood’s talent and attitude. I sometimes don’t see the same attitude in TDS.

Right now is not the issue.
Right now, Api is the dominant partner.
Right now TDS is the apprentice.
The issue isnt about these guys right now or next year. Its about 2027 and beyond.
Conflating the two issues is muddying the waters and creating drama for the sake of it.
No one wants Api gone now. No one wants him gone next year. The question is do we think he is still required in 2027 and if so, how does that relate to the development of Tallyn?
Think Api should be given only a 1-year extension with him knowing that his minutes will be on parity with TDS's will this keep them both happy I'm not sure it's up to Benji's man management skills.

At the moment the strength of TDS is his running game if he leaves us does his new team have a hooker of Api's ability to help him with the smarts he needs to learn to add more scope to his game.

If he only shows that he's predominately an 80-minute running hooker will opposition defenses be organized for this.

If that is true, then the rumours of bullying towards Galvin are strengthened.
Can you explain your logic ?
If seniors players think someones more capable that another they are more than entitled to share that with the coach..
Where does the bullying come into it ?

I know it seems simplistic but if Benji would just utilise Tallyn off the bench for 30 or so minutes each week, he would get his experience in first grade. You would think just being named in the top 17 would be enough incentive for these young guys to hang around and ply their trade, knowing that Api is not going to last forever. It’s not like he’s stuck in Koe waiting. That said, Benji needs to use him and not just leave him sitting on the pine for 80 minutes.

Really. Your a stats man. How are our tries conceded when TDS is on the field either as the sole Hooker or playing alongside Api, as opposed to playing just Api.
Im not going to compile that as it isnt my point.
I am not arguing that Tallyn is better currently. I never have been arguing that.
What I and others are saying is that Api doesnt have the motor for 80 and never has. For some reason this club thinks he will get better at this as he ages...its misguided and stupid.
Forget about Tallyns record in 23 and 24...he was starting out as an 18 and 19 year old. This year as a 20 year old, he has undergone 3 pre seasons as well as 3 seasons of senior footy. His value to the team has improved a lot.
He and Api have combined for 5 wins and 4 losses. It is immaterial who did the lions share of the work as they compliment each other. Api shoulders the tough start, Tallyn comes on and gets the defence second guessing, Api comes back on and closes out. Each have their purpose, each provides the other with opportunities...i.e. Tallyn gets the defence hesitating thinking he'll run, Api comes back on and gets to work the ruck with short balls to runners. Tallyn works the ruck with structured play, Api comes back on and finds room to scoot. As a pair, they make a very competitive 80 minute hooker.
The reason we need that is because neither can go 80 at this stage.

So other players believing there was better in Galvin position
How can that relate to bullying surely it can be just their opinion
Its not their job to approach the coach and get their mate selected ahead of the guy who is the incumbant and has prepared for 2 preseasons to play there.

Ok well my point is carrying both weakens our side defensively so it’s the risk you take for the impact you want to gain in attack. I believe we lose that same impact in defence.
So on that note I would be playing Api 80 or less being replaced by a utility with the capability of playing hooker and giving TDS the chance to build his motor in NSW Cup.

Why is it ok to make exceptions for TDS as a rookie player, but can't exceptions for Benji as a rookie coach? Benjis valid to the team has also improved alot..

So what are the roles and responsibilities of the senior playing group in your opinion?

In my opinion it's to work with the coaching staff to ensure they are achieving the best possible results as a team.. this involves giving feedback and opinions..

If someone in your business came up and said bob had been doing really well and you think that he deserved a shot on a project over bill, there's nothing wrong with that at all..

If they turn treated bill like a piece of sh1t then yes that's bullying.

But providing opinions/feedback is far from bullying...

What’s the video?

Edit - Just saw it on the clubs Twitter site ..

WTF is up with this club ? The Social Media hacks probably aren’t even aware with his situation
I love it..
A little reminder to TDS where his head was at not that long ago..
and that he might be emotionally reacting to a situation.

From all accounts he is disposable compared to young Haywood, who the club rates very highly and has apparently a lot higher ceiling. TDS going won't scare the club too much with Haywood the long term option after Api, also the club will not lose Api you can bank on that.
What makes you think the club will keep him
