Tallyn Da Silva #270

Sorry, but he chose to leave with a year and a half still on his contract because he didn’t want to wait behind Api.

So it’s only natural that fans—who were hoping to one day see him take over from Api in Tigers colours one day—are judging his performances to a high standard.

He made the ultimatium, not the Tigers.
Tallyn made a mistake. He thought he was ready to hold his own with the big boys. He takes the pay, he's gotta cop the spray. His learning curve has gone from measured, to vertical.
Still, poor form from his captain. That is not leadership behaviour and would certainly not lead to team harmony. As others have said, he's shown his true colours. Something for the coach to deal with.

I didn’t get to watch the whole game I only saw the last 5 minutes but in those 5 minutes TDS really messed up and almost cost Parra the game. If they had lost he would have copped an even bigger spray than what Moses gave him on the field. The club I can say at this stage made the right decision in prioritising Api over TDS even though Api is getting older, TDS is nowhere near first grade standard (not on a regular basis at least). He would have been 14 again next season had he stayed.

its also because he was learning from api . and we try and play our footy through our 9. moses is notorious for wanting quick concise ball off the deck. TDS will have to unlearn , and change his playing style to suit Bitchell. Theres a reason the eels cant develop a decent 9. Not while Moses is there . TBH its fair enough . Still TDS is a fool for leaving. Especially to the eels . Whoever was advising him...... has given some poor advice. like the same people advising woods back in the day.Now all he does is bag the tigers , whilst lamenting that hes not welcome back by both the fans and the club ...Now Hayward will get the protege treatment , taking over when hes 21 in 28.

Wdym, Mahoney was a gun there and that Ryley kid looks good too

Not defending Moses but I’m not sure that he prevents hookers from doing what they do

I do see talent in TDS I think eventually he’ll get there, but he ain’t ready yet to be a permanent starter.

same ! he was being allowed to develop here . at the eels he will be a system dummy half . with the prime objective being to feed their halves off the deck asap. thats not what he was learning at the tigers. someone had convinced the kid he needed to be i 1st grade all the time to develop. really him and galvin. "too good" for the tigers ..... really shortsighted imo

Great call. The elite 9s in the game have some ball playing. He would of developed that at the Tigers and possibly become one of those top tier guys who can run, tackle and create. At the Eels he will be shovelling the ball to Mitch Moses, and may just develop into a bog standard NRL hooker.

Man if the best hooker your team has produced in 40 years is reed mahoney , with the geo footprint the eels have.....i mean i stand by my comment !
we are the shittest team in the comp , and currently have Simpkins , Liddle , TDS , playing nrl out of our development system . Harry Grant took a huge leap the year he was with us as well... not sure how much that has to do with us though . Chuck in guys like Farah , Isaac DE Gois , Senter , Mescia , Sedaris , Backdoor Benny . thats both foundation clubs in the time we are talking about . like i said i stand by my comment

Hooker seems to be the one position that players develop at the Tigers. Whether that is luck, coaching, play style, scouting I don't know

And yet, we don’t keep any of them.
At the moment there are Liddle, Simpkin and TDS all getting substantial minutes with their respective teams. All 3 did the bulk of their development at the Tigers. Grant and Walters spent some time here but not sure you could claim too much credit for them. That is a pretty good strike rate.

I think in this case however, the old "we can't hold onto players" doesn't apply as I would not trade any of them (apart from Grant) for Api.

Would be happy to get Walters (or even Simpson at a pinch) to provide a backup for Api. I was a little disappointed that TDS left but he reminds me a bit of Liddle who took a long time to develop but lacks the craft of a top class dummy half and is a little one dimensional in his game.

We kept Benny , Farah , Senter , Mescia . And let nearly all the rest go because we had those 3 …. Now it’s Api . With Hayward next in line . Who were supposed to keep ? Liddle never reached the peaks he was supposed to . The rest had Farah or Api or Senter in their way .
