Doesn’t sound like he really wants to come here. Sounds like a last option only. This will be a disaster an ageing prop who doesn’t want to be here but has no choice. It’s not going to end well.

I get the opposite impression. He has been given the tap and has accepted leaving but has a job to do in his current role. He speaks positively about the WT roster, but wrong time and place for a discussion with Maguire. Doesn't want to talk to the media about any potential new role when he still has to focus on where he is now. Full stop.

They're an odd bunch footballers.

No hell no way I'd let my wife decide on my future, no because she isn't smart enough to make good decisions (because she is), but because nobody can really make a decision for you about your work career and truly understand what makes you happy and your career goals.

And if it all goes pear-shaped, you want to be in a decision where YOU made the best decision at the time, not someone else made the decision for you at that time.

I don't get why it's so hard to take a half day a week for a few weeks to figure out your future, still train your guts out, don't give it any thought on weekends and still make an informed decision by yourself. Weird.

"I talked to my future boss for one or two minutes and it was good".

It sounds like fluff to me. Surely he’s not THAT under the thumb.

His family have already made the move from North Queensland to Penrith to follow his career and get him his big money contract. Now they've been settled for 4 years and the kids have been going to school in the area. I don't think it's being under the thumb to let them have a real, even a deciding say in his future if it involves possible relocation. Wherever he goes he'll be playing footy and maybe that's the extent of what he cares about work wise.

At least his next move will be based on what's best for his family and not just $$$.
I'm liking this signing more and more. Tamou will play a big role off the field for our developing forwards, especially with Benji gone whilst still punching out 100+ metres per game. He will also solve our captaincy issue in the process.

Sounds a lot like a bloke jibbering about absolutely nothing as he has been told not to say anything until it gets officially announced...

A lot of stuff being said without anything being said. I'd guess he's happy to let it run in the background while he is concentrating on trying to win a premiership. If he comes to us he's probably very aware that it's unlikely he'll win one with us so this is his grab at glory.

I still think he's a wise signing for the next couple of years. We need him for the exact role he is playing at Penrith.

It sounds like he didn’t want to leave Penrith which is fair enough but it’s not like we are his only option. Dragons reportedly wanted him pretty badly and he definitely could’ve gone to England.

I like that he told Madge he likes the young fellas we’ve got considering he’ll be doing the job of mentoring them if he joins us.

On the other hand he isn't going to say I want to get out of here, I can't wait to leave the Panthers. You can take all of these types of articles with a grain of salt most of the time. He needs to at least act committed to his current club, so at the same time it's not like he doesn't want to come here either.

He's got a great shot at a premiership, he's not going to say anything about looking forward to a new challenge etc until the finals are over. Hopefully get the deal done asap.

If hes happy with one year thats exactly what we shld offer him...hes high risk of not returning our investment
Mind you,hed be happier with one year at the Panthers than WTs...
I dont think hed have too many 2 yr options tbh

He wouldn't go to Dragons because his young family live and attend school n Western Sydney and it would be much easier and quicker for him to travel to Concord for training.

Glenny P to Concord is still a fair trek.

Compared to Penrith Park sure it is. In the great scheme of things it's still not that bad a trip. Could be trying to get to Wollongong/Brookvale/Bondi/Cronulla every day.

Too much negativity here , probs cos we have been burned plenty in the past .i think he will be here and he will be an asset

Not compared to Glenmore Park to Wollongong, GP to Concord is pretty easy.

what it sounds like to me, think he would love to stay at penrith but most players realise salary cap pressures these days.

I don't think it directly draws a like for like with most peoples employment.

She gave up a promising athletics career to move to North qld. Tamou owes her a beer or three but it's no surprise she has a say in where he goes now. Nothing sinister about it though, he'll be announced in due course.
