They're an odd bunch footballers.

No hell no way I'd let my wife decide on my future, no because she isn't smart enough to make good decisions (because she is), but because nobody can really make a decision for you about your work career and truly understand what makes you happy and your career goals.

And if it all goes pear-shaped, you want to be in a decision where YOU made the best decision at the time, not someone else made the decision for you at that time.

I don't get why it's so hard to take a half day a week for a few weeks to figure out your future, still train your guts out, don't give it any thought on weekends and still make an informed decision by yourself. Weird.

"I talked to my future boss for one or two minutes and it was good".

It sounds like fluff to me. Surely he’s not THAT under the thumb.

His family have already made the move from North Queensland to Penrith to follow his career and get him his big money contract. Now they've been settled for 4 years and the kids have been going to school in the area. I don't think it's being under the thumb to let them have a real, even a deciding say in his future if it involves possible relocation. Wherever he goes he'll be playing footy and maybe that's the extent of what he cares about work wise.

His wife is local (NW Sydney) and all her family are here. He only had 1 baby when he moved down here they now have 4, 3 at school.

She gave up a promising athletics career to move to North qld. Tamou owes her a beer or three but it's no surprise she has a say in where he goes now. Nothing sinister about it though, he'll be announced in due course.

You can't do da atlhletics in Queensland..?

She was doing a lot of training at the Institute of Sport in Canberra.

Too much negativity here , probs cos we have been burned plenty in the past .i think he will be here and he will be an asset

I don't get it. He's signing for reportedly $350k per season however some people are acting like he's signing on for $800k per season. Then you have others who wouldn't take him on minimum.
To get Tamou & JAC for the same price as Latrell (possibly with some leftover change) shows we are making better recruitment choices.

How does that show that, we would have signed Latrell if he wanted to come here, that wasn't out decision.

Last year we were prepared to pay LM overs, this year we are tabling offers at market value.

The same people are making the offers? It is more likely we have less cash to splash this offseason.

Tamou has never been great, but he's always been very good. A strong consistent career, the likes of which we could feed off and benefit from.

Difference is we are pretty much the only club with a shot of signing JAC, we can afford to offer him the incentive based contract. Latrell had other people wanting to sign him and since our club has been so poor we really had no choice but to throw overs at him which still didn’t work.

It also seems like they might’ve learned from the Latrell situation and smartened their approach which is a good thing. We’ll have to wait and see what happens with Tamou and JAC and how much they end up getting paid

Yeah agree mate, was just making the point that I wouldn't use that as evidence we are making better recruitment decisions. The amount of money we had available last year shouldn't have left us in the position of many people having written off next year already. We need to improve our recruitment and retention massively.

They got publicly humiliated when they couldn't sign LM for overs, do you think they will repeat the same mistake twice? Gone are the days of paying overs, Madge is making sure of that.

If we can snag Tamou and JAC for the reported figures it’s two very good deals. Hopefully we can find some more Luciano type signings as well.

Really? We turned around and payed overs for Joey, so I don't see any evidence of better recruitment yet.

I’m sure players back in the day never had to learn off experienced players to better themselves at the game ?

The big thing he brings is leadership. How long have the members of this forum been calling for leadership? We have young forwards in need of leadership. He is the captain of this years finals frontrunners. If he can make the paddock and have a go, we are on to a good thing.

It's debatable whether we paid overs for him, Canberra fans didn't think so at the time and Nofo is certainly having one of his better seasons outside of him.
Though Joey aside, Stefano, Blore and AJ are astute signings. None of them were paid overs.
