Wests Tigers skipper James Tamou has called on his players to stay united following the side’s heartbreaking loss to the Warriors in Round 11.

Tamou was frustrated by the team’s performance on the Central Coast but said they can’t dwell on the disappointment ahead of the Indigenous Round clash against St George Illawarra.

“We’ve got to look forward because now it’s must-win,” Tamou said.

“We’ve had a pretty honest review session and we’ve got to get over that game as quickly as we can and fix some things up and move on to the Dragons.

“We’ve spoken about just sticking together because we’ve got a tight-knit group of boys.

“We’ve got to stay connected and keep working for each other.”

Although Tamou is dissatisfied with where his side is sitting on the ladder following 11 rounds, he said their position isn’t a reflection on the effort they’re inputting throughout each week.

“I’ve said it all year — the effort is there, it’s just a few things that we are letting ourselves down on,” the captain said.

“We’re working hard for each other. It hurts when you’re working hard but still not getting wins.

“We know it’s there and know it can work, we just need to execute at the right times.”

Tamou is hoping Wests Tigers can perform well against the Dragons during Friday night’s Indigenous Round clash.

“This [Indigenous] jersey and this round means a lot to us,” Tamou said.

“This jersey means so much to some kids — it gives them hope because they look up to these players .

“Jimmy the Jet [James Roberts] and Daine Laurie — they wear this jersey with pride. For us to be on their level, we really need to step up — which we know we can do.”

Isn't every game a must win..I don't get the mentality Mr Tamou.

These stories make me nauseous, we’re working for each other, how about put your body in front of them on the edges.

Working for each other, how about just make your tackles.

Jimmy has been to Madge's school of handling the media, just keep saying the same things over and over, but never really addressing and correcting them

So, not all games are must win?

He actually said that they are all important in the full interview.

@5min18sec. "It's not like we've been going into past games thinking it's not a big game"

'Honest review session'. Hahaha. Good one.

Please release the audio, I want to know what you say to guys who defend that badly, short of ‘give up mate’

go to the pub again it seems to be the only thing that works

For the fans too

In all fairness, most of you can read into it what you will, however from my perspective,Tamou is saying that if you want to be sucessfull at this level, you must step up and play to that level...bag me if you must, but I know exactly what he is saying, the young guys learning and the older guys doing what they have been taught over many years...its that gap that James is talking about...

time for our standard 6 weeks of must wins, then its 6 weeks of mathematical

I think the abacus might be out early this year

Does anyone remember 2019 panthers, not consistent and showed glimpses. Reason they put it down to was a new side and a lot of young guys playing in their first and second season nek Minnit 2020 - present been unbelievable.

Our squad could be building into something similar, one or two big signings will change us and the more games our new spine and young players play together can only be good. Hopefully we put together some more wins just for their confidence and culture to grow. I do believe we are getting better just by watching the last 2 weeks. Defence obviously our worst enemy, feel like everyone defends by them self and not a team. Perhaps Madge needs to hire a defending coach just to concentrate on that, madge likes to do stuff alone and I think that’s costing us. We need some big names coaching staff working with him, instead of this individual relos he builds. Coaching director would be wonders too, I think Madge is building something here but needs help, just needs to get out of his own way.
