Taniela Tuiaki Injury Thread...

In a positive sign for Wests Tigers, winger Taniela Tuiaki has been given the green light to take the next important step in his recovery.

Tuiaki will now start running without assistance as he attempts to overcome a shocking ankle injury.

The powerhouse winger has been sidelined since suffering the broken ankle in round 21 last year. He has been working very hard under the eye of Wests Tigers Rehabilitation Manager Andrew Leeds.

“Taniela was advised on Monday by the specialist to bump up the load of his running. We will see how he responds to that over the next month,’’ Leeds said.

“He has been running in a harness which is partial weight bearing. We are now going to see how he tolerates full weight bearing running.”

Leeds confirmed that a return date or round for Tuiaki remains indefinite.

Yeah keeping fans updated with progress on a players serious injury is pointless.

Sweet logic homie

Good call Smeg. Many fans have been asking the question on how Tuiaki is progressing with his rehab, and the club has given an official statement which can put an end to some of the speculation which has been floating around of late.

I reckon we will see him back in 2months. atmost

The club will not rush Tuiaki given the seriousness of the injury and particularly considering how long it has taken the big fella to get to this stage. To be honest I doubt we'll see him this season, and that's not a bad thing if it ensures he can continue to play and turn out fit for the start of next season.

You guys get a dull ache in your ankle when you think about the pain that TNT must have gone through? Gee, I hope he runs around on it ok. I'd be happy to see him aim for 2011 comeback tbh. I'd hate to see him come back too early.
The prospect of a possible finals appearance and a Four Nations spot must be very tempting for him though….

I can see Tuiaki makin a return in the last couple of rounds or for the start of the finals and adding an x factor to the side taking us to the gf

Does anyone know much about the injury? Can he make it worse if he comes back to early?

It's about strength and stability. Ankles are normally slow healing because there is not a lot of blood flow around them, plus consider the amount of force that goes through the ankle when you run on it, same with the knees. Tuiaki isn't a small bloke either, so there's a lot of compounded force going through the ankle when running, stepping etc. If he comes back too early, well it could go again…The club will make sure it's as strong as it's going to get before he does come back again.

GROW UP…..I wish this US and THEM stuff would finish !!! This is the JOINT VENTURE'S 11th season !!! :unamused: I could go on about the setbacks of Leichhardt. Fortress Leichhardt didn't happen with record crowd against SOUTHS , The toilets aren'tn better and cleaner at an Afghani railway station , and the place is harder to get out of than a speeding fine.

I got kicked off the old forums by Sinca's for sticking up for people getting hammered by what I termed BALMAINAZISM.

I will admit I will always LOVE the mighty Western Suburbs Magpies. I used to live in Rooty Hill and Seven Hills. In Rooty Hill you were expected to be a Panthers Fan, in Seven Hills , you where expected to be a Parra fan. I couldnt stomach following either team!! My Father, back then was a raving mad CHOCKERS FAN... ( or should I say ST. George ) When I was about 3 or 4 he took me to Pratten Park to watch Saints v Wests. When these fantastic men in Black and White came on , and blew this Mob in Red and White off the park ...I was hooked ! He NEVER took me to another game  .

I had to wait till I was older to go again. The first game I went to without dad was the Amco cup final against the Chooks !!! After that i regularly followed the Magpies, travelling from Rooty Hill Lidcombe to Campbelltown
In 2001 I moved to Campbelltown.

The Wests Tigers had been in the competition for over a year. I AM A WESTS TIGERS FAN.....Im not Magpiedazz, Im Tigerdazz !! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE follow your respective juniors & state cup. But lets not head down the same road as the chokers and their coastal cousins down the Princes Highway !!
:sign:

Ok…

great news that he is definitely running..only matter at hand now is when he will make a return and how we will accommodate for him..i for one would like to see him as a wide running 2nd rower perhaps?

i reckon 2011 is the go.

with an injury like that and for how long its been, it would be hard to retain all his pace. sure cycling, etc may help, but squats and leg presses would have been a massive no no.

needs to start running and then make sure that hes as fast as before. coming back from injury isnt just about not getting reinjured, but also making sure u come back and can play like before.
would be awful if he came back too soon, played a bad game and then just got stuck in a rut.

but is good news, cause running freely etc. is the start of it.

well for those that saw the footy show last night, Lote said that TnT was running well and running upstairs unassisted
