Taupau Back To The Bench?

Hey guys, first post, been reading the forums for years and finally decided to get an account! Anyway, given our horrendous bench rotation today and the last few rounds, would it be worth putting Taupau to the bench to have 100% intensity at all times? When we had Woods, Farah (although injured), Galloway and Marty all off it took our intensity away and in the end took the game away from us. Thoughts?

I don't think Taupau needs to go to the bench. JT just needs to rotate his forwards so that either Marty or Woods (or both) are always on the field

Taupau has great impact. The biggest problem I think we have is that if we bench Marty long term for balance, we run a risk of losing him because he is also a top 13 starting player and would be starting at most other clubs. The boys in the office need to extend his deal asap. I agree though by having Marty on the bench we would have a better balance over 80mins and more impact, but again, would it make him consider his options?

I'd consider starting Ava and keep Galloway on the bench so that a senior prop is always on the field with a young guy. So Lodge and Galloway off the bench, Woods and Ava starting.

Farah needs to go back to playing 80.

We need a damaging player on the bench who can create impact. Akaoula, Liolevave and Funaki could play that role.

Marty to bench would look like a demotion
He has been awesome for us, like Woods
We just need people of Marty's intensity off the Bench.. Sue is the only aggressive player off the Bench

Taupau has been great in the 13.

Not having Lodge around has hurt us, we will certainly look better with him in the 17.

Buchanan was woeful today.

Taupau is slowly settling into the 13 jersey. We need Lodge back on the bench, and a dynamic backrower. Liolevave will fill this void, but he needs more development and experience.

Gavet would have easily made the bench if he didnt mess up and get shown the door

With him, marty , sue , blair and Ava we did look like an aggressive forward pack
We need some aggression (more of it without giving penalties away)

Lodge
Liolevave

That will add some impact to the bench

100%

A bench of:

Lodge
Liolevavae
Ava
Sue

Would be devestating and would mean we lose less when our starting players come off.

Halatau has heart and always gives his all but i think he is a wasted bench player.

Buchanan needs to go back to reserves for a spell.

I agree. Its not Taupau starting that is the issue. Its lack of punch from the bench.

JT admitted it was bad to have Keith, Marty, Woods and Farah off at the same time.
He wanted to put Keith back on before HT but he was injured. I thin JT realises that he can't have all these guys off at the same time.

Lodge being back will help but then we have Keith missing next week.

Liolevavae and Akaoula are not impact players for mine, not even up to NRL standard at this stage - they need to learn a bit more in the lower grade before you consider them.

Lodge, Ava and Sue on the bench with the other spot going to Halatau or Santi.
No one else is in the race at this time IMO.

Ava and Woods are gentle giants. Woods has a big motor and can almost last 80min.

Tapau, Sue and Lodge are strong and aggressive but lack fitness and expend alot of energy in small bursts.

Surely the front row rotation should be based around Woods.

Our problem is more to do with the halves being unable to dictate terms and build pressure by seeking repeat sets rather than dying with the ball on the last tackle. Its the lack of pressure thats putting strain on the defence.

Such is life with the second most inexperienced side in the NRL.
