Taupau Signed

on another note , how come no one on this forum , picked this signing. not one person even came close to calling this one, so it shows that all the people on here who say thay have inside knowledge, are full of it.so to speak.

In that case it also goes to show that people who whinge and moan about nothing ever being done by the club are also full of it.

im over the moon with this signing.

I thought Tapau was going to be a world beater when captained the junior kiwis and rated him above kasiano.

Someone said we were going to sign Halatau from the dogs. Maybe they just got the names mixed up

Seems like the tigers recruitment were reading this thread http://www.thekennel.net.au/forum/showthread.php?t=100110&page=2&s=83f257f9944a0cc7e58b9d6e618b89e2

Funnily enough someone there mentions (only a month or so ago) about what if he was loaned out to the tigers… Well that guy couldn't have half scripted this better

Good pick up Donny

The funniest comment was when they were talking about doing the swap , and one guy says who would they possibly want from our squad

Says a lot of what other teams think of our squad , Maybe we are too one eyed when looking at these issues

Apart from 4-5 Tigers players ,the rest are fringe first graders at best

Bring on a mass culling I say

Good solid signing, big, strong and runs hard. Finally we have a good signing and nobody announces it. Go figure! Hope we don't break him and he becomes another player plying well below expectations.

They were talking about swapping with Parra, and no one at Parra is worth having, not us

What happened? His not over 30… I must be dreaming and a forward to boot.

Has Mick's good mate Peter Mulholland already started working for us ?

Good signing this. Potter's first two signings have targeted two areas we are weak in. Pretty sure Sheenius would've signed another back rower before he even considered either of Richards or Taupau.

Hi LaT,

I did mention it back in February. Not saying I have Tigers inside info, but my Bulldogs source is reliable.

I'm very happy with this signing.
This guy is a beast and will prove to be value for money imo.
Looking forward to seeing him carve up in a tigers jersey next year.

Also agree,
Tim Lafai would be a good pickup too!

Being honest don,t know much about the guy but NOT A SMALL SECOND ROWER. How good is that .Will be guided by the forum sounds like a good signing.

I was thinking last night, is this the first first grade prop we have signed since Keith Galloway?? Guys like Gibbs and Woods are obviously our own products, Daine Laurie had no experience and even today Jack Buchanan came out of the Dragons NYC side. Galloway arrived in 2006 and since then the only props we've bought to the club with first grade experience are Ryan Tandy - 2008 (but let's not go there), Junior Moors, Jason Cayless - 2010 and finally Matt Bell in 2012\. Not exactly a quality list or a successful one. Hope Taupau works out for the best.

I took some notes on stats for props with potential that wouldn't break the bank the other day out of pure boredom and Taupau actually came up as one of the best options.

Here's his stats.
Taupau. 3/2/90\. 111kg. 190cm.

623m and 147 tackles this year. That's 89m and 21 tackles per game normally off the bench. Not bad for a 23yr old prop with plenty of aggression.

Others that were impressive in stats that wouldn't break the bank were (not sure of contract status):

Dale Finucane, Luke Bailey, Ryan James, Scott Bolton, Ben Matulino, Mitch Allgood, David Hala and Jack De Belin.

Guys to pass on we're actually coming up as more experienced, such as Weyman, Scott Anderson, George Rose.

Stoked with this signing.
