Taupau the coward?

Part of the game.If the little guys do not want to get picked on (as you put it) they are playing the wrong sport.

Couldn't agree more. This is footy. When you run on the field, everyone is equal.

If youre little and cant take a shot, shut your mouth. If youre big and cant move quickly to catch the little guy, you shut your mouth too. If youre little and prepared to cop a smack in the mouth, then bait your heart out.

Not hard to understand really.

Or is it… Only guys 80kgs or less can tackle other guys 80kgs or less etc.

Next thing they sooks will be wearing different coloured shorts and you can only touch them, just like NRL Masters.

Taupau has hit a Shark with a head high tackle. The player wasn't in possession and was fairly severely concussed. Looks like a holiday coming for Taupau.

6 weeks at the least for that

No way he'll get 6 weeks!
It was worse than the pitty-pat he gave Maloney last year though and he got 4 for that.
If Manly plead the Dylan Napa defence then Marty will get off with nothing…Napa pulls those sort of cheap headshots every single week and never misses a game.
Will be interesting to see the outcome.

Fist clenched and he squared up. And he will have loading.

Cronulla were never the same after Tauapau concussed Bird who was not even in possession of the ball. It will be very hard to defend that especially taking into account Taupau's record. Bird was Shark's main attacking weapon and its effect on the game reminded me of Lamb's tackle on Ellery Hanley in the 1989 grand final.

Everybody's channeling Terry Lamb this week it seems.

Yes Newtown but the judiciary don't take into account that the Sharks struggled without Bird after the hit.
The fact that Bird didn't come back on will count against Taupau a fraction. IMO he will get 3 weeks, perhaps 2.
Marty don't like hitting the big fellas that's for sure, picks the easy targets every time.

Not a great crowd at Brookvale 5K. Leichhardt doubled that.

It's the worst ground in the comp without a doubt .
They should be doing cartwheels with 5k in attendance .

I think if a player is put on report , they should get an automatic 10 in the bin .
Then front the judiciary if they are charged .

I did not see tonight's episode but I prefer the old system where they got sent off for the game, whereas under the current system it is not much of a penalty for the team but only for that one player. As well it is the opposing team the following weeks that get the benefit of the penalty, not the team that suffered the injustice. Where is the justice?

It wasn't a send- off offence though BBF. Seen blokes get off at the judiciary without penalty for more severe acts than Taupau's tonight. I agree that the team who loses a player on the night of the offence gets no compensation for their loss of player, which sucks and needs to be rectified.

How did Marty Taupau stay on the field after this?
7Sport on March 21, 2016, 8:48 pm

Manly enforcer Marty Taupau was placed on report for a shocking high tackle that knocked Cronulla youngster Jack Bird out of Monday night's clash with concussion. Taupau hit Bird flush on the chin with a brutal swinging arm after the Sharks centre had stepped back off his right foot and fumbled the ball. Bird appeared to be bending down to regather the loose ball when Taupau's clenched fist hit him on the jaw. Taupau will surely come under scrutiny from the NRL match review committee after leaving the 21-year-old in a world of hurt.

Agree with that. I think an 18th man option should really be looked at for situations like this.

Wow having now seen the tackle, it's pretty bad. I would not be surprised if he sees a month or more for that. It was late, high, swinging arm, reckless.

He's starting to become a loose cannon Marty. It's no good to make 10 tackle busts and then sit on the sidelines for 6 weeks.

NRL Match review committee didn't seem to think so…

Grade 2 Careless High Tackle...1 week with early plea...

Surprised by that !

Didn't he get 3-4 weeks for that hit on Maloney towards the end of last year?

Judiciary System seems a shambles sometimes.
