Yep it's all a conspiracy…

What are your thoughts on his penalty CB? Think its fair when all is considered?
Its not a conspiracy but it is very on the nose in many people's opinion. The whole thing is pretty suss.

Should have got 3-4 weeks IMO. The judiciary have been hopeless for years though, it's not like its the first time we've seen a dodgy decision from them.

Considering he got 4 weeks with us for a similar incident last year, which he would still have points and loading from how does it make sense that he now only gets 1 week?

Simple reason - when he got 4 weeks he was playing for Wests Tigers. When he got 1 week for a more brutal offence he was playing for Manly.

Ryan James hopped up and kept playing, Bird was taken off and didn't play the rest of the game.
Go figure!!!!!!!!!!

No its not the first time and it will continue to happen. Would have been great to have heard some sort of explanation from the NRL as to how they came up with such a short and inadequate suspension .
The NRL hierarchy treat fans with utter contempt and arrogance, they will not be seeing any of my hard-earned money invested into their coffers while they are run so pathetically and inconsistently.
Absolutely love the game of rugby league but if sports such as the AFL or soccer were any sort of entertainment value ( which they are not) then switching codes to support would be very much an option worth considering.
The NRL are crooks, plain and simple. And to top it off they don't give a rats about their fans and providing a legitimate, fair and transparent competition.

Attacking the head of a player not in possession of the ball!, apparently as he had an open hand as opposed to a clenched fist it was regarded as a slap, thus Jack Bird must be a girl if a slap sends him into Disneyland, so much for the League's stance on violence against women.

Didn't look like an open hand to me. Then again he didn't hit him with his hand.

I would think whoever gets charged with a similar offense in future would have a pretty good defense (siting this instance) for getting no more than one week.

Yeah! right - all depends who you play for.

IMO his hand wasn't clenched in the fashion that it would be to punch someone's lights out but it was a reckless swinging arm with forearm contact so how he finished up with 1 week is anyone's guess.
Barrett was always an NRL pet in his playing days- looks like his charmed run will extend to his teams judiciary record as well.

I agree in some respects FTB. The judiciary has long been a joke and inconsistent. Jordan McLean broke a blokes neck and didn't spend more than two months on the sideline. My point is that it's not the first time it has happened. They've got this sort of stuff wrong time and time again and it's no surprise any more. People think this is new, that's what I find incredulous.

Can someone explain to me how the points system works for the judiciary? Knowing he would of had carry over and having been suspended previously on similar offense last year do people always get reduced bans when they commit same offense again?!?!

The loading is based on similar & no similar offences in the last 2 years. This was considered a non-similar event as last year Maloney was laying on the ground when Tapau hit him with a swinging stiff arm. This was a completely different situation.

I was taking the p. Both were pretty cheap swinging arms and I thought he should have been getting a 6 week holiday. He likely would have if he was still in a tigers jersey.

Big tough Marty would have spent plenty of matches flat on his back staring up at the seagulls circling in the sky had he been playing in the Blocker, Peter Kelly, Les Davidson era. Those couple of hardheads would not have stood by and watched Mirror Marty's continued cheap shots on little blokes, they would have been out for retribution without hesitation.
Does anyone remember Balmain vs Broncos at Leichhardt in 1990 I think it was ( maybe '89) when Greg Dowling dropped his knees onto the face of Gary Freeman who was laying on the ground and broke a couple of his teeth out? Very next scrum, Blocker stands up and belts Dowling with a perfect left that knocks him rotten..awesome to see! Big tough Marty can count his lucky stars he gets to ponce around smashing blokes half his size without the threat of a violent demise at the hands of a real hardman.
Hopefully Marty the cat gets his comeuppence sometime soon.

Woods must have read this post because last night when Cronulla had a go at Moses without the ball Woods come in and nails the Cronulla guy and the ref didn't say boo

I was at that game, can't remember the year - but remember the punch.
Dowling was a hard man but he left our blokes alone after that.

Plenty of blokes back then minded their manners when Blocker had his axe-murderer face going with the psycho eyes! Legend that bloke.
