TAUPAU...

get on tigers head to head

manly is a new team who will eventually come good but when you have a five eigth who is a centre and was only signed 3 weeks before season start you;re going to struggle.

new hooker, new fullback (ish), new coach. It would take something significant for us to lose. The tigers as bad as we were last year we have remained relatively stable for the past 24 months and that will show in the first few weeks with other sides who have overturned their rosters,

Manly we can beat but sides like the storm, dogs and Sharks I can't say the same.

Doubts about some of his tackling - In the 50th minute Jordan Rankin scored his first try as a Tiger – the home side handed good field position thanks to an ugly tackle by Martin Taupau on his former teammate Moses minutes earlier. This may have been the turning point of the game.

I bet he regrets leaving us

But yeah he was good tonight .

He was good…. but he seemed to pick the little guys all night and gloat about dominating them, not much of an enforcer, crab-walked to find one.

Maybe I didnt notice it when watching him one-eyed, but I dont miss him...

What is it with this love for the Storm – they had a lucky 2point win over Saints who were flogged by Cronulla and couldn't put the Titans away until mid way through the 2nd half.

Still haven't got over Marty leaving.
The guy showed how good he is in any company.
Add him Koro and and Austin and Farah in our 17 anytime.

I believe they have a great club culture (except the scandals) and they have a winning culture built on the big 3 over a decade. A stability, proffesionalism and a team cohesiveness that the tigers should aspire to.

If they're up against halves that can make a difference, part of his job is to smash them( just the same as Cordner did to them last year, also Pritchard, and others)
It's a fact of life, as Thurston would agree.
Taupau will get better as the season goes.

Hot and cold tonight, certainly caused us problems with the ball in hand although he came up with a couple of errors and we did swamp him several times which shut him up. A shame he's not with us still as I think he would thrive with the way the Tigers are playing at the moment but he took the cash and ran so good luck to him.

It's why i did LOVE him…but now he is dead to me...

Cheeky little Nofo...

Was it just me who noticed him standing around on the wing/centre for 3/4 of the second half? Then come in and make a run after 15-20 mins. Thought he was playing wing for a while,

I totally understand what you are saying, but your examples are different. Cordner and Pritchard would go about their business and dominate after being positioned to run onto them, Tapau crabbed his way onto them, and lashed out at Moses when Tapau was innefective. Big difference.

His double tackle bust was through Sue and Grant I think, cannot take from that in any shape or form, but running onto balls into pigs he was kind of inefective otherwise… His 2 big plays of the game were crab and pick a little guy, nothing to be too proud of being his size.

I was referring to Manly's loss , not what coin he's on .

Well said. Taupau looking like Dave Taylor mark II at the moment. I hope for his sake he gets better.

Everyone's got their opinion.
But you'll find that if any of the big guys can get to the little blokes, they will. It's why most of the better teams have a backrower riding shotgun on them, so they don't have to make too many of the big guys on their own
Tonight 31 tackles … I try..... 2 missed tackles and 20 tackle breaks( only other player anywhere near that number of tackle breaks was Tedesco. ( also with 20)
He was good.
And as for Cordner, last year , he looked for Moses almost every chance he got .
As do most of the big boppers
