OFFICIAL Taylan "Tiny" May

You know what? I've jumped the fence on this issue. I used to be quite proud of the Tigers' apparent no dickheads policy - I liked how they handled the Robert Lui situation, for instance. And while Taylan is, legally, innocent till proved guilty I am allowed to draw my own conclusions... and they are not positive.

That said, someone's going to sign him and so far as I'm concerned it might as well be us. If you wnat a rationale, it is that it should be up to the NRL to determine whether a player's character rules them out from registration so the same approach can apply to all clubs.

The only thing I'd hope is that if we do sign him it is on a short leash and he is out the door should there ever be another incident of the type that got him stood down in the first place.
And you'd think he'd be on a short leash. They've released Jordan Miller because he was late to training and asked blokes to attend board meetings to explain why they're overweight.

Not going to lie. I want Taylan. However listening to Terrell talk about Taylan earlier in the year in the James Graham Podcast makes me think that Taylan is a volcano waiting to erupt and can’t be controlled.
Yes
And that was from his Brother
We don’t even know if Taylan wants to play football again ?
There is no doubt in my mind he would be a risky proposition,
Firstly does Benji want him and if so let’s leave it to Richo to make it happen or not for the right $ and time.

Football wise it makes complete sense. But it’s a gamble that could cost us his brother. If there is a breach and he needs to be released does that risk getting Terrell offside?

NRL green-lights Taylan May’s return after police withdraw domestic violence charges against former Panthers star

Several clubs are circling former Penrith Panthers star Taylan May after domestic violence charges laid against him were withdrawn by police.

Taylan May has been cleared to make an NRL return after ARL Commission chair Peter V’landys declared the no-fault stand-down rule no longer applied to the former Penrith star.

May missed the bulk of last season under the game’s no-fault stand-down policy after being charged with domestic violence.

However, his career was seemingly revived on Monday when police withdrew charges against the 23-year-old.

“He was stood down pending charges of domestic violence,” V’landys said.

“Those charges have now been dropped. To be fair to him, he can now play. If there are no police charges, there is no reason to stop him playing.”

May parted ways with the Panthers after being charged by police early last year, having signed a two-year extension worth $1.2 million in March last year.

His career was brought to a shuddering halt when he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and stalk/intimidate with intent to cause fear of physical harm.

May entered a not guilty plea and insisted he was innocent. Interestingly, May was a spectator at Campbelltown Stadium on Friday night to watch his brother Terrell play for the Wests Tigers against Newcastle.

The NRL will reserve judgement on May’s return to the premiership pending a contract offer from a current club.

It is understood several clubs were watching Monday’s events with a view to potentially making a move for May should he be cleared.

Before he was stood down from the NRL, May was considered one of the most promising outside backs in the game.

As well as playing for Penrith, he had represented Samoa alongside his brothers Terrell and Tyrone.

I thought he played 2022 on the wing and moved to the centres in 2024 after returning from his ACL sustained in 2023.

Is he a better winger or centre?

Just pointing out that info.

He's had some interesting posts over the past few days.
I honestly think he's considering a re-brand, but not what you'd expect.
it looks like he's going to try his hand at music.

No sensationalising anything.
the court system is flawed.
Both ways - i know of someone who was falsely accused and had a DVO taken out against them purely on the say so of someone who had their nose out of joint and wanted revenge a past problem they had. Police even apologised and said they did not believe the accusation but were obliged to take out the DVO as a child was involved. The magistrate didn't apply the DVO. The courts are full of DVOs taken out in spite rather than actual events.

Do we have cap space without the Olam and Klemmer situations still unresolved?
Surely he doesn't march in on a top tier contract. Normally, the player has to accept chump change for a year or 2 before any big money gets thrown their way.

Remember he missed 2023 with an ACL and only played 8 games in 2024.

Apart from the obvious risks around behaviour, he has played 8 games in 2 years. It could just as well go the other way and we never see his peak form again.

I’d would love Taylan to sign as he is a very talented player, although sometimes I find his attitude and behaviour to be a bit below board (understating things here probably).

If the club does look to sign him I would seriously hope that they insert some clauses into the contract that if there are any behavioural issues that the club has the right to terminate the contract if they wish to do so.

He would be a very good get in a position we have consistently struggled to fill with a quality player. Hoping Terrell is a big drawcard as I think in one of Taylan’s YouTube videos (he has 2), he alluded to wanting to play with his brothers as did Terrell more recently.

Its the kind of deal the previous admin would have made a meal of. I've got a lot more faith in Richo

I'm a wee bit confused by the stand down policy, so he signed a new 1.2 million dollar 2 yr deal with the Panthers, once he was charged was it ripped up. Now the charges are dropped for whatever reason, he's lost 1.2 million dollars. Or do Penrith now have to financially honour the deal. How does it work. Atm as it stands he wasn't charged with anything today so is innocent. Yet still lost time in the game and a lucrative contract. Can anyone explain for me please.

I think the only logical thing is the NRL has to pay it's there policy that stops him from playing a innocent man has been dragged through the mud

But for some reason I don't know if he is that innocent but that's life

Could he take litigation action against the NRL
