@Eddie said:You get stability from winning and winning often. Its not some holy principal some clubs have and other clubs dont.
Bellemy came straight into Melbourne and never missed a finals.
cheaters/supercoach
Hasler took the Dogs to a GF in Year 1 .
supercoach
Robinson a Premeirship in Year 1.
$$$/potential supercoach
Mcguire finals year 1 and then a premiership
$$$
Bennett GF first year back at Brisbane.
supercoach/$$$
Thats why these guys are the best. They go in and win early and win often.
Sheens earnt a decade because he won a premiership early and had 3 premierships before even arriving. Some coaches have money in th ebank if you know what I mean. Of course the Roosters are re-signing Robinson because he is proven, 3 straight minor premierships and a premiership.
The only guy who can stop the speculation is JT, by winning football games. If he finish the year around the 8 I think he deserves the final year of his contract.

These comments kill me. We are not a laughing stock at all.
Not now with Taylor sorting things out….but we were for a very long time...once again your hate toward Taylor clouds your judgement,he at least is starting to get this team to do what they hadn't done before on a consistent level...DEFEND and grind out a game...hence the recent wins...
@Eddie said:Its nothing to do with structure half the time.
With Moses its his lack of frame.
With Brooks its poor technique.
@Eddie said:TrueTiger I am really not sure if that is the case.
We are currently the 15th best defence in the league. That is pretty bad.
In our last 6 games we have all still conceeded 132 points at an average of 23 a game.
And two games ago we conceded 32 against a Chooks side with 3 wins all year.
Ok, we have won 4 from our past 6 and ultimately if we are winning I am happy. However for every step forward we seem to take another step back and its usually just around the corner.
This season could still go either way and our form for mine is hard to read which is not really what you want from a side.
@GNR4LIFE said:I look at it like this. We were already dead and buried this time last yr. Atm we're two points out of the 8, so already that's an improvement. The longer we stay in contention the higher we're bound to finish.
And so far this yr, it's about on par for where we have been on the ladder the majority of seasons over the last 16 yrs, so it's not really any worse if you judge the team on this yr and view last yr as an anomaly. But it's because of last yr that what's been achieved this yr so far has been undervalued and not deemed good enough. That and the fact that there is a very vocal part of the anti JT brigade who still hold a grudge over the Farah saga and will never give credit to JT, not even if he won us a premiership. Most of these come from Facebook.

I think the pro-JT brigade on here though are basically delusional in that they blame anyone and anything for poor performances from JT. They have made him the teflon man. I look at myself who gets put into the anti-JT brigade and I think I have a pretty fair assessment of JT and Robbie.
I do think that last year was the worst coaching I have ever seen within this club and it has impacted how I assess JT but I think that is fair enough. I also think it's fair enough to judge JT harshly on how he handled Robbie. I definitely have no grudge towards JT though.
I just think that the excuses for JT have to be over. So if he won a premiership he would definitely get my support. My expectations are in fact a lot lower than that. He would get my support with much lower benchmarks.

Well said stevetiger unfortunately for some(not you GNR4life) taylor will always have their support and nothing is his fault.Accountability has to be paramount at our club no excuses accepted anymore

@happy tiger said:And again seeing I've asked the question 5-6 times to the people who want him gone , he will replace him realistically within our price frame who is so much better than Taylor is ??
@stevetiger said:@happy tiger said:And again seeing I've asked the question 5-6 times to the people who want him gone , he will replace him realistically within our price frame who is so much better than Taylor is ??
I'm positive I've answered this but I'll answer it again. The club should go to the market and see what coaches are available. I am sure that there will be options available and we should choose from the best on the market.
It would be exactly the same as per any job application where a role is being filled. I am 100% confident that we would be able to drum up an option that is just as good (if not better) as JT.
I want to clarify a point though. I don't want him gone. I want the team to perform and if that means we have to move on an underperforming coach that is a step in the right direction.
@Fade To Black said:The absolute bottom line for me is show me a coach who takes a dud substandard roster and wins premierships with those resources.
Pretty easy for Bennett, Hasler, Bellamy, Maguire and Robinson to look like worldbeaters coaches with the players they have had at their disposal. Maguire and Robinson are looking far from great coaches at the moment.
Looking back on coaches who have won a premiership in the last 30 years or so (even longer TBH)… it is fair to say the coach that won a premiership with the least star-studded roster was Sheens in '05\. Maybe for that feat alone he should be regarded as a supercoach ala Unca Wayne.
Not many if any coaches have great success with average players. It's all about the cattle you have.

Still waiting for a name Steve
Can't be that hard
If I want someone gone I try and come up with a viable argument and viable candidate in a viable price range that suits the team and its current methods
That on both accounts does seem to be beyond you
@stevetiger said:I completely agree with these comments. Sheens in 05 was really smart in that he played a style of footy that suited the players we had and came up with lots of tweaks to win games. That is how I try to objectively judge a coach. He gets the team to perform to it's potential and even gives them some structures that helps them win games.
