Taylors latest Pressa

I'm not convinced by anything from this coach. I've given him a chance on and off the field but he is not the man to rebuild the club in my opinion. I know of some talented junior rep players that are changing clubs next season because they are turned off from our first grade coach. JT in my opinion is just trying to save his arse and buy himself more time. He has heard all of the rumours of Robbie having influence on the sackings of past coaches and he can see the influence he has on the playing group. This is very intimidating for JT who is losing the playing groups respect. The playmakers are getting frustrated because they can't play their natural game. We will get no salary cap relief from this decision at all. Our win rate is scary when we are without Robbie. Love him or hate him, this decision and the way it was handled is amateur hour at it's finest. Cherrington will be a fantastic player, but there is no way he is ready for 80 minute footy next year. Brooks has gone backwards this year. Moses looks frustrated . Sirro looks lost. I fear that JT is actually damaging the young players futures and I hope that it is not permanent damage

Through my work I completed a media training course. You get trained to anticipate as many questions as possible, memorise your line of answers (spin if you like) and not deviate from that no matter what. The emphasis is, you decide what to say, you control the interview. Paraphrase your own line as questions are rephrased but never get drawn by seemingly innocuous questions because once you deviate from your line it can be difficult to get back.
Media people know this and recognise when you stick solidly to your story. They know they won't get beyond the company line and generally give up. You see this all the time from politicians.
Taylor obviously wasn't well prepared for the first interview. As well, he does not appear to be a particularly confident speaker in those situations. In my view WT really needs to start getting this part of the business right.

I agree with this - people place way too much stock in how someone "appears" in the media, or what type of comment they are prepared to give.

Like the Potter article, I commented to be careful of things old coaches have to say. Someone said Potter would have no agenda, but everyone has an agenda, that's how people work. Maybe Potter is just being totally genuine, but just as easily, maybe he is not.

There is a full and honest truth in this story, and we are never ever going to hear it. Anything said to the media is "spin" of one form or another, I've said this before: anything you see in the media has an angle, a purpose, a desired outcome.

JT clearly does not want to address all the very direct questions, and he does not have to.

IFarah is articulate, intelligent and a winner. The previous management is responsible for putting this goose in as our coach. At the time of his appointment I mentioned to my wife that Farah will see through this imposter immediately. This is exactly what has happened. JT's only response is move him on. What a way to treat one of our best.

exactly !
the thing here is its not just farah who saw through him immediately.
It was the entire group.
The young guys watched on and listened to his instructions and were immediately rattled.
Taylor perceived this as Farahs influence and therefore must go.

i mean its pretty obvious when your not emotionally attached to this club.

Farah has had major issues with the only 3 Coaches he's had at WT, the end result being the dismissal of the first 2\. so he escapes accountability on those matters. Great player but seriously guys.

I dont get the Online attacks, Its super easy to bag people out from far away.

The gig is hard, Player, Coach, Manager. I hang with a first grade captain almost weekly and when we are out or even in closed circles I watch the "Know it alls" talking the same crap all the time.

"They think they know me and everything that needs be done to succeed" was his comment.

Sport brings out the Passion in an individual and None mere than Me, But constant bagging out irritates me.

IF we Could then We Would be there. the facts are we are not.

SOLUTION….

We been riding the sewage water wave for years as Tigers fans for whatever reason.

I will do almost anything to get off,

JT whilst not perfect is the best that was out there and the best we got. We need to try something different and thank God he has the Balls to make a change.

Im not entirely happy about Robbie but I see the logic. I am hoping it works out in the positive for the tigers.

I will back the club.

Why didn't he just come out and say all of this yesterday?

Much better interview, no repetition, no squirming, just direct and confident answers from JT.

Except when he was asked to elaborate on why the tigers felt the need to drop robbie, how much of the next years cap the club might have to play for Farah to play elsewhere or whether any other club could afford to take him so late in the piece.

Yep direct and confident answers except on the questions that counted.

There's no way to answer why they want to drop Farah. Tell (what you think is) the truth, and you're just kicking the bloke when he's down, and pushing down the price you'll get from potential buyers.
