I'm just wondering whether Te Maire Martin could be coaxed into considering his first grade future as a centre. Most people on this forum think that there isn't room on the Tigers books for two young, highly paid five eighths. It's also obvious that Martin will want to chase first grade opportunities and the money that goes with it by going to another club. If you look at his skills set, he has an excellent passing game, good speed, slick footwork and a solid fend. These are all skills required of a centre. In addition, he is a capable defender, including the tackling of much larger forwards head on. However, he is only an average kicker, which is a fundamental requirement of a five eighth. Could he be blooded in the NSW Cup as a centre? He seems to be far too great a talent to lose, especially when our back line depth in the backs, particularly the centres, is so thin. By the way, who do we have in the lower grades regarding centres? Seve, Heleta, Fine? I was surprised Millone was promoted as he didn't seem to be doing much. An honest trier but not much more….
