Te Maire Martin v Moses

Neither Martin nor Moses are centres , don't have the skills and probably don't want to play there either

We need to choose one or the other for the future

Yep, don't see any centre in either of them, but want to keep both of them as unrealistic as that seems.

If all our youngsters reach their potential and WT somehow manage to keep them, then as much as I like, no am ecstatic at having James at the back, I would consider moving him to the centres with Mitchell taking the one.

Happy,I always respect your input and opinion on this forum, however, in this instance I think you are a bit to quick to assess if either can play centre or not, they are both young and I think adaptable to the position of centre..both have good backline traits…

After all in the Tapau thread last year,I said he could play in the backrow and you told me he was an out and out prop....he certainly has done a great job at lock and when in the backrow has been very good as well...

I just think the younger ones can adapt more readily these days than in years gone by...it is only an opinion though....

But Taupau isn't playing in the back row TT

He is playing tight as a 13 as a third prop to try and sure up our defence and give us some added size

Centre defensively is one of the hardest positions to play My point was I don't think Moses or Martin would want to play centre at the WT's when opportunities at other clubs as a half would open up

Exactly like Blake Austin

Problem is TT that Moses is a better ball player than Martin and Brooks for that matter. What a waste he would be in the centre, just because he can defend. Play Martin in the centre if he could handle it, next year etc. so we can keep a good player. I would not suggest moving Moses and Brooks to keep anybody. If Martin (and if he wanted to) can make the transition that would be good - if he can't Bye Bye.
Pretty sure he will end up at the warriors eventually anyway, most of the Kiwis do anyway - who would of thought TVS would have left the Rorters.

If you go moving people around that don't want to be moved around, you can lose a good player. Eg. Moses may not want to be moved from 5/8 and I am sure Manly for one would be happy to grab him for 5/8.

We should do all we can to keep good players but killing one to promote another is not a great solution.

Just a few thoughts TT - not disagreeing for the sake of it - just an opinion.

Youre talking through your hat. On the previous page you wanted to move Martin to the centres.

Just say you like Moses and be done with it.

I agree, neither are centres.

We have already decided who we keep. Moses is the choice, all energies have been put into him.

We will lose Martin on the back of Austin.

Places a lot of pressure on a player who is struggling to find his feet in the top grade.

Early days at the moment with Te Maire. Te Maire is still very thin and has a lot of developing, especially with his defense. We could potentially keep both.

I don't know about talking through my hat.

I have never made any secret that I am probably Moses biggest fan.
Apart from Johns he is the best young prospect I have seen in 65 years.

As a recap.

Keep Moses at 5/8.
Play Martin in the centre or up your jumper if you like. The point was don't move Moses to centre, full back or anywhere else.

If Martin can't or won't play centre or anywhere else, then bye bye.

If that is talking through my hat - then I don't think your right - it is no more than a beanie IMO.

Russell,Happy, thanks for your input,I was just trying to find a solution so as to keep both young talented players and find a solution to our centre dilemma without having to look outside the club…having said that, either way whatever happens,will...cheers guys....

TT, Happy - think we are all trying to achieve the same thing.

No good people going off when we are on the same page to start with.

Well,in my opinion, what would be wrong with playing Moses in the centre,Brooks at half and Martin in 5/8 …after all Lawrence could be gone soon, and I'm sure Moses could adapt to centre,he is versatile as was proven when he played fullback at times last year....

Teddy,Brooks,Martin,Moses,Simona,Naigama and Noofa....this way we don't lose anyone, and that backline is dynamite...if Pattycakes retires,Moses can kick goals(pretty good at it as well) ..I would hate to lose Martin to another club and watch him carve them up,when we have some very talented young guys who are versatile as well......

I could be completely wrong, but what would be wrong with trying these sorts of reshuffling and setting up a solid backline, after all Moses could end up being a very good defensive centre,it depends on what position he wants to play,I'm not going back to the old days when I played, however,I played a lot of "inside centre "as it was known then, wing and played a few games at lock...I didn't care where I played as long as I got a game with my mates and played well where I was put.....

This is just my opinion and I think some of what I have said could very well work, but hey,I'm not an NRL coach or an expert of the game...I like many have been wrong many times in the past...

Moses is far too small to play in the centres, as is Martin. We have seen what happens when Moses gets isolated in FG without a backrower to help him out - he gets steamrolled. No doubting he throws his body into it but an 85kg centre is not going to cut it against a 105kg+ backrower.

I can't agree with any suggestion of Martin or Moses playing centre. The only viable option to fit everyone in would be Moses fullback, Teddy in the centre's. And that's not really viable either, so i think you'll see Martin at another club

Serious question to the Moses fans.

Blake Austin was outstanding today against some quality opposition, when will we see Moses be able to deliver a similar type of performance?

I think Moses will become a better player than Austin but that is a long way off. I really think that Austin could be the blues 6\. I don't see many better options in that role for NSW at the moment. He is in my opinion a lot better than Maloney or Reynolds.

I'll try and answer that question if u answer this question….

At age 20 where was Austin and what was he doing? 4 years ago the average punter had no clue who Austin was. He is now 24 and playing good footy. I'm willing to bet in 4 years time when Moses turns 24 that he will be playing better footy.

Didn't see the match, but once he has reached Austin's age (developed) I expect to see a good performance every week and an outstanding one such as last years dogs match on a monthly or so basis. If your question also relates to letting Blake go, well what were WT to do with a player that wanted to leave?

Don't you know, we're all about giving these guys time, its always at a later date that we'll see the best of them. It never enters people's minds that these guys that need time may just not be up to it at this level.

This is my concern.

Moses will come good, but how good is the issue.

Austin at 20 would definitely not be able to do what he did today. In saying that though he has now produced that at that level.

This is the key point. I think Moses will be as good or better than Austin although he will be a very different player however there is no guarantee.

Austin is a real goer. He has mistakes in him but he can win games as well.
