Te Maire Martin

If Martin returns to the Tigers it would be a fantastic result for the club. In my view, he will be a real superstar as you don't get given NYC Player of the Year for no reason.

He wasn't. Elgey and Ash Taylor beat him.
(Just being pedantic. I'd love to have him back.)

Really? Sorry about that! I'm sure he got NYC Five Eighth of the Year one season and thought he got the major award too one year.

The Beau Henry lesson is also probably a reason not to bank on someone because they were NYC player of the year.

Yes speed is what he has. There was a cover tackle a few weeks ago, has no idea he had that speed and was a great tackle. Just can't remember which game and which player.

I agree with others' view that Martin is actually quite a solid defensive half. This is based on my observations in games and his tackle/ miss stats. The only slight reservation is that both Brooks and TMM are play makers. Is there room for two play makers? They both have strong passing and kicking games. If anything, Martin's skills in these two areas are superior, and he is definitely more consistent. Where does this leave Brooks if the plan was to hand him the reins to lead the team? It could be the same problem as Moses, who tends to dominate the play making. However, having said all that, the Tigers would be foolish not to take Martin back. Even if they give him a raise, he will be much cheaper than Reynolds. This will leave more money to invest in a fullback and the pack. On top of this, he is a much better player with far greater long term potential. I really hope this happens!

As some others gave said, he is a great player but I am not sure he is the right fit at the moment as Brooks could do with an experienced halves partner. Having said that if Cleary beefs up the pack we could get away with carrying a young halves combo.

He was NYC 5/8th of the year, 2 years in a row.

Have a looked at this try he scored on his debut. Note who passes the ball for him to score.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is next year Brooks 5th year in and around first grade (fully aware his first season had a total of one game)?
I think the mentoring he needs could be just as easily provided by one on one coaching with johns, or a retired Cronk, it doesn't need to be on field guidance or protection at this stage of his career.

I was so bitter that night….
I rarely remember other team's games, but that one hurt. He barely reacted when he nailed that field goal, and I thought we'd lost a first grader and probably burnt our bridges too by giving preference and big money to Moses who had done nothing up until then.

I am sure that TMM took conversions for the Tiger U20's side but correct me if i am wrong. He was rated as the next Benji Marshall.

Re the fullback, I've always seen Nofoaluma as a real good prospect in that position, and according to his profile he's done it before.

If its true and i hope it is as i think from what i've seen of him he's a very decent talent but….
Our club cant be too bad if he wants to come back, only reason he left was for opportunity as he knew where the club wanted to go with Moses and Brooks.
He seems very composed and a level headed young kid unlike Moses.

You make two really good points;
1\. The Tigers can't be a bad club
2\. *Martin is level headed and composed.

*2 is what separates Martin from Moses.

I reckon he is a better bet than Reynolds. He obviously isn't a complete player yet or he would be in first grade but I like these types of signings. Not too much money and we can get a better squad.

If we get tmm and get rid of moses, who do we take from parra in a swap? would love manu mau or the other second rower.

IF parra want Hayne back I'd take Bevan French. Mau is a beast but there is zero chance of him being released.Gutherson is the other player that may be surplus to requirements.
