Team round 1

After seeing the Titans go around I wouldn't be all that confident about round 1.
I honestly think we will win the first 3 games and a good chance to finally be in the 1 position end of round which has never happened before and it could be in round 1 depending on what the Rooster's do to the dolphins

Dangerous left edge. On Nofa/Talau's
side. Khan-Perreira bagged 4 down that
side. Other edge is fast too with Jojo
Fifita. At least we have a coach that
develops game plans for opposition
now and doesn't take the one size fits
all, 'we're only worried about how we
play' approach like Madge did haha

The key will be holding the middle against the Titans and marking the man.

They have have a good forward pack when allowed some room to offload or quick play the balls do so creating the space for 2nd phase play to use the speed out wide.

Marking the man prevents the cut out ball and backs running onto the ball at speed with space reducing options (Nofo has been ordinary at this years past but against the Raiders looked good).

I'd be definitely taking 2 frontrowers on our bench

Yes absolutely MT, I don't know why
I left that out, but holding our own
against their forward pack & mobile
second rowers will go a long way in
stopping the 2nd phase play and
spreading the ball wide as you have
mentioned. An noticeable difference
in our D was putting the runner on the
deck rather than holding them up like
we have with Madge in the past.
We couldn't stop offloads in the last
few years due to holding up the ball
runner so our defence could retreat
the 10 and reset. Was a huge pet peeve

gold Coast won't be able to compete with our front row rotation Klemmer, Stef then we can bring on twal and joffa we will be too strong up front.

Couldn't agree more.

I'm at:

1. Laurie
2. Nofoaluma
3. Naden
4. Talau
5. Tupou
6. Douiehi
7. Brooks
8. Utoikamanu
9. Api
10. Klemmer
11. Papali'i
12. Kepaoa
13. Ofahengaue

14. Simpkin
15. Pole
16. Twal
17. Bateman

Blore is a hard miss here, placed simply due to his limited minutes in the preseason, as per Bateman, but Bateman simply will not play Cup. Kepaoa's versatility showed yesterday that he is more than up to the task of being a placeholder for one of, if not both of those men in the 17.

He's really looked impressive and dynamic this off season in my opinion.
Loved the way kepaoas played yesterday he ran the ball hard and his defence was great , he will be in the 17 , if he keeps that form up

Laurie

Good team, but I think Sheens will carry Simpkin and drop Kepaoa..he's always been in favour of two hookers in the 17

wonder if Sheens picks Stains at FB if he would put Laurie as 14 and come on to either cover the halves and push Brooks to 9 to give Api a rest ?
