Team size in 2014

I know that in the past we have been dominated by physically bigger teams, (sheens era especially).

Since potter has been at the wheel, I personally can see a change in our recruitment. The signings are physically bigger, whether it be by height and or weight.

Martin tapau (23) 190cm 111kg
Corey Patterson (26) 195cm 102kg
Keith lulia (26) 192cm 99kgs
Pat Richards (31) 192cm 99kg
Blake Austin (22) 187cms 98kg

Seeing Keith Galloway is 195cms it puts the size of these blokes into perspective.

And then we have the smaller of the signings: Dene halatau (30) 178cm 90kg

Considering some of these signings are backs, we have added size all over the park. I for one am very interested to see how this goes.

One thing for sure is that we will have a very tall side next year. When you add woods, keithy, bell, sironen into the mix.

Agree with that, maybe a bit of time
In the gym,
we will definitely have a tall team next year.

Tapau is physically big as is Patterson whose mobility is a strength of his size. I think they'll both be very good signings.

It's the one thing we have always lacked size and power in the engine room , I look forward to seeing our pack at full strength as Brooks and Farah will run riot with the extra space provided by some go forward.

Our starting forward pack should be a bit bigger. If Mr T can jag a FG spot (he's got a couple of in front of him though), he would definitely add some presence, being the same height as Galloway and Sirro but a few kgs heavier. Hopefully we don't get pushed around as much next year. We should have a few players who all start next season heavier than this year, guys like Sirro, Sue, Buchanan, Brown…Teddy might be half a yard quicker once over his leg injury, then there's Koro to come back who will provide genuine speed on the flanks.

Yeh i watched him last night what a player he is and still very young cant wait to see him at the tigers.

in my opinion size isn't our issue, its what we do after we hit the line.
we get dominated; lose meters get turned around and put on our backs time after time
if you compare our pack to melbournes pack we are bigger this year, yet their forwards are not dominated to the same extent ours are. yes they are the masters of wrestling and I'm sure part of the training would be how to avoid being dominated/wrestle in defense
we need to improve our go forward once we hit the line, look for offloads, or quick play the balls

this next line is gunna be a bit touchy for some but,
i think the most exciting part of next year isn't brooks, but seeing tedesco getting the offloads off of woodsy when hefinally can go back to the offload rather than making 50 tackles and 30 hit ups. this year he hasn't being able to create the second phase plays because when he was fit he was working his backside off tackling and hitting up. his hit ups were slowly becoming in-effective because of the higher work rate; with the fellow workers around him, sironen and woods should be able to get plenty of second phase plays for teddy to fly though. against the bunnies there was that amazing play where teddy nearly got away when it was 18-0, he was fast but he still has another gear or two to hit
