But he is pretty frustrating. At this stage consistency for Toa means playing 4 great games every year unfortunately.

Would love for him to be injury free and playing well in far more games per season, but history doesn't fill me with much hope of that sadly.

People have short memories. He started the year injury free and was our main attacking weapon, and he and Turuva had a solid defensive pairing

Once he injured that shoulder he never got his confidence back. What worries me is apparently it's still somewhat of an issue for him...

I think we only have 21 players under contract for 27 and alot of thinking has to be done on what juniors to promote and retain

Then what players to target we need a outside back who has played 50-60 games and can fill in for a few games or keep Patrick Herbert

A prop at the backend of his career who's solid who won't get in the way of the 3-4 good young forwards we have

Just have to be very smart

Personal would love to make Burton an offer to play 13

Masi has to be the priority
Need to lock him up long term before Nov 1 I’m sure the vultures are already circling
 
Just watched the game on tablet while all stars on tv (listened to tigers)
Think mason was sent out to fill the hieno role and limited him to that. I did think he defended ok in the front line.
Makasini was the only real stand out demanding serious contention for firsts besides Murray for a bench role
Attard missed any real contact for the try on goal line that he will have to work on but in attack was promising
Logan Brookes body looks like he needs to mature but definitely has a knack of getting through tackles. Thought he should of been closer to butcher when he scored under the goalposts
Madden did well but think he will need to back up this performance in next trial to have a chance
Most did well which generally happens in a win.
Wasn’t really able to see effort in defence on turn and chase but if anyone at the game noticed these efforts would be happy to hear.
The kick chase definitely seemed better and more coordinated than years gone by
Tavanas try was an elite effort
Hayward did well- let him and Brookes bodies mature I think
They will all need to take their trial form back to cup and the training paddock consistently to show they deserve chances in the future

I was at the game, the energy was high.

Madden is a proper leader.
His chat was there throughout and he really led us around the park well, kicked strong, did the majority of it also.

Everyone played their parts.
It was just great to see how everyone had each other's back and when the other team knocked on or something the whole team fired up together.

Loved that big hit Sione put on in the first half to knock the ball free....

Tavana was very exciting to watch.

Our old mate Jnr Tupou just continues to look like he wishes he was somewhere else.

I’m just glad he’s somewhere else. He doesn’t have it.
 
Encouraging overall, but I’ll reserve judgment until the full first grade squad gets their chance to show what they’ve built over the off season.

Yeah absolutely.
I would add though that those two teams were pretty evenly matched and our boys looked the more fit and determined.
The defence did not impress me too much though and it’s something I had hoped we had put a lot of work into. That’s what I am really interested in keeping an eye on.

Concerning we copped 16 and could have been 22 while Savala was on.
