Live Game Discussion
Ok I’ve been following this game on the forum cos I can’t watch Kayo so I need a good match summary from those that actually watched the game.

I posted earlier that Benji wanted all the reserve and pathway coaches to play a similar style to first grade. I thought this game would be no structure and haphazard but from reading comments after a shaky start the young guys played a good game.

Final score?
Player ratings?
When the arm wrestle was on n the first 15 minutes or so we didn’t look great. The defence was ordinary and but for some spoilt opportunities for Easts, we could have been a long way behind.
Sione stood up and twice forced a turnover on the first tackle with a big hit in their red zone.
Madden stood up by stealing field position with smart kicking.
Makasini stood up through power running.
As we got on top, we became ruthless, attacking them in waves and then shifting it wide where some excellent finishers were waiting.
Andrew’s was great, the young fullback Attard was strong and Madden led them around like a pro.
We looked fitter and more enthusiastic. In the end we smashed them and after starting 0-16, went on to outscore them 42-10.

Payne Hass really messed with peoples heads re front rowers . Most don’t and can’t compete in the engine room until they’re 23/24 . Even then they only really start to understand it when they’re 26/27 . The best props in the game are normal 27/28/29/30 . Not 18 years old .
The presssure the fans and the club has put on these boys has been a lot. The club as a whole has been starved of success for a long time and jumped on all these boys before they were ready. Tim Sheens has a lot to answer for I believe, he has set us back twice in his career

Nah I dunno mate . There’s a lot of kids coming through that want to repay the faith the club has given them . A lot of them including guys like Heyward were rejects from other clubs who we gave a shot to , and then developed . Galvin also falls into this category . I guess him and his family have long term dementia .
Heywood is all class, so crafty and schemes from dummy half, and he has a bond with the players he is coming through with,,, these kids want to be here and build something special

A stronger side will show up for the Panthers next week, but we're a good chance to win at home and take out the pre-season challenge.

Gotta be happy with that.

Madden the stand-out for me. Controlled, sharp, straightened the attack beautifully and kicked fantastic.

Kit is better than we think. So young for a front rower

Mason in the middle was good. He worked hard and provided good spark and leg speed. I like that experiment.

Haywood looked at ease and had time. Thats a great sign.

Big Mak is just another level IMO. Class and power.

Attard elusive

A lot of positives.
