Make room for Maka? Now that's a big elephant! He started at left centre and looked dangerous every time, scoring a beauty through sheer strength. Then, as a left winger, he motored to the line with pace on 2 occasions, thanks to the rare structured backline play from a Wests Tigers team, thanks to Madden & Andrews.

He is unlikely to replace Tiny May in the centres, but the Left Wing spot is his for mine. Turuva to the Right wing which he looked OK last year scoring a few in the first part of the season. Maybe a battle between Toa & Skelton for the Right centre spot. Both a bit injury prone tho. One in from the fence Skelton's defence as a known bone crusher could work. Two big bodies on the edge with KPP & Jeral tightens up our perennial right edge problem.

Left edge of Samuela, Tiny and Mak would be deadly. But I feel that Mak needs to bide his time. He will be in the 17 before too long for sure.

There is a footy player in Heath. He is all effort. Yesterday made me think he reads this forum. The amount of shit people on this forum give him is disgracefull. He is a Wests Tiger and pulls that jumper on give the kid a break.

No-one doubts his effort, toughness, heart or energy levels. It's his absolute lack of impact, high error level and inordinate level of ball-hogging runs with such low impact. And his defence isn't great. First grade is not the place to hone so many deficiencies unless you are a Reggies standout. He's had plenty of chances so far, undeserved chances, and hasn't even come close to stating a case for first grade inclusion.

People are allowed to call a spade a spade. It's hardly disgraceful.

Care to show any evidence of that? I love Benji. I think he shows some great signs. I've had my doubts like everyone, and still do, but so much of what he does is great. Im backing him and I'd keep him as coach at this point. I just pointed out he misses some things that should be obvious. Just like when we signed Laui, a specialist left side player. He kept Galvin on the left all year knowing he would have to start from scratch the following year on the right. Obvious blunder.

Why not just move Macca straight to right centre , leave the combo of May and Skelton on left and Macca and Turuva on right , Toa doesn’t excite me , he seems injured all the time , May deserves his spot in left centre and Skelton has done no wrong either

Skelton is error prone and makes bad defensive reads. Makasini can match his hit up game out of trouble. Nice problem to have for once. Our replacements were Staines and Tuipolotu last year.

Wow , just can’t leave it alone , we win a trials game , players went well and some one needs to bring up the colour of the jumper , ggggg some have nothing to do but stir shit , , it’s Wests Tigers , it should be built on all our colours combined , and we can do a heavy orange and a heavy black one , keep the piece , Cambo = Black majority jumper , Leichhardt = majority orange , other a mix of all , simple yes but we just can’t seem to do what every one wants 😁

I know it’s only trials but will be interested to see Royce and Bunty run around as we need one or both to really step up this year. Only Terrell May and Twal have played with any consistency in the middle for us.

I missed the game , but sounds like it was fairly good result , I’m happy we got off to a positive start by winning , some were saying roosters be to strong so great results, does anyone know if the game would be replayed on fox or other , would love to have seen it , but positive result and sounds like some of the guys did well , should be strong in reserve grade etc which is great

condensed version on fox in 15minutes , they normally have the round ,full length on repeat Tuesday

Jock had an outstanding game not against real NRL opposition. For example, his kicking found the grass numerous times - does this happen on a regular NRL game? He did well when he attacked Junior Pauga’s wing but Junior is not known for his judgment (see Cowboys game for us). His game has definitely developed in Brisbane but I want to see how he directs the Cup team around the park first.
I thought Javon looked good in both D and attack and should be in the running for the starting half with Jock in Cup even though he is eligible for Fleg.
Attard has natural speed and is elusive. I liked how he both backed himself to take that difficult kick and fluffed it but bounced back to take a contested bomb a few minutes later - shows resilience.
Kit, Murray, Sione, Sukkar, Sakuaru were all good particularly Kit and Murray. We should have pack that competes well in Cup and all could fill a role in the NRL squad (although I think Sione will be on the bench).
Interesting to see who gets the staring Cup hooking role. Hope or Haywood?

I loved it. The first twenty I thought we were in deep trouble but all we needed was a share of the ball to get some rhythm. The young lads backed themselves and showed plenty of skill and commitment. Ordinary opposition but never the less plenty to like. Seeing props breaking the advantage line in WTs colours - they came to play.

It was a trial of our depth vs Easts and considering how good their juniors have been for years it was very pleasing to see us stand up against them.

I can't remember a similar trial where we haven't copped a belting from that far behind, showed ticker to fight back and in the end ran over the top of them.

Fitness and depth were good to see, in fact we should be chuffed it could be early signs that the club is getting stronger.

The squad played with intent and purpose. Competition for spots will be excellent for the Club. The improvement of Murray and Jack imo is significant plus the emergence of young talent.

Really sounds like Benji holding them accountable turning up for preseason is making a difference

Harsh reality of having a job in the public eye is people are going to have opinions based only on what they see on TV.

It comes with the job. It's a great job, you're paid insanely more than anyone else your age.

But with it comes scrutiny - and there are players who've had to deal with a hell of a lot more of it than Heath Mason has.
