TEAM LIST Team Vs Sharks [Round 9]

Team List
Really spewing about KPP I would be more confident if he was playing.

There is a 11 day stand down period following a diagnosed concussion.

Surely we could have gotten an exemption it's 10 days.
YI would have thought so too, but he could be carrying a niggle and this is an opporuntiy to have him fresh for the next round.

I was left shaking my head listening to one of the podcasts today. Spruiking about next man up and then calling for our replacement players to just "do a job" and not overplay their hand.

This is not what next man up means and is not what our new Tigers are about. We shouldn't be worried about our next man up not being able to cut the mustard. Sure Hope is not Api and Sukkar is not KPP - but that is not the point.

We are about players coming into the side to play the system that they are already embedded in. If Hope has not been understudying Api for the last 7 weeks and is not up for the task then I don't know who is. Sukkar is the right guy to come in and take over that edge because that is where he has been playing in KoE - he knows the system and will perform. Tito is the nominated fallback for Bula and has had plenty of reps there in readiness for this exact situation.

We need to stop over-reacting to the noise and focus on what got us to where we are in the first place - a system that works. Sukkar comes onto that edge and does exactly what he does in Cup, Hope comes into the middle and brings players onto the ball at the advantage line and if he sees an opportunity he goes. Tito catches the ball, pins his ears and chimes into the same shape as Bula.

We may not win on Sunday - but it won't be because we have players "doing a job". It will be because the Sharks lifted agaisnt us and probably a shit refereeing decision. Have some faith!

Too right!
And also, you’d have my vote as an assistant to Benji 🐯💪

Very worried about the ref. Hopefully he squares us from the Broncos game

I get what you’re saying but think I also agree with the podcasters.

Benji’s about guys who play to their own strengths.

“Express yourself”

Some of our replacements best qualities are probably to not overplay their hand. e.g. Hope hogging it a few times late v the bunnies.

Big week for our x-factor guys like AD, Luai and Tito. The creativity of Api and Jahream will be missed.

The other next men up need to keep it simple (but go like the clappers).

Overplaying their hand is something Benji needs to chat to them about; however, the way it was put across is that they just fill a gap and do the basics. That is not what they need to do - they need to express themselves the same as every other player in the team and make use of the particular skills they have. Hope may have made a couple of errors previously - but if you hold him back how will he progress?

The system is working and we need to play to the system; otherwise we shoul just chuck it out. This year we have proven that we have a system that allows players to use their strengths: exhibit A - Jock Madden, exhibit B, Tino Turvana. We need to trust them to work within the system and express their creativity.

Yeah, I reckon if they’re the hardest working blokes on the pitch we win pretty handily. Still got a lot of in-form guys out there.

Its a midseason game vs the sharks, they can make do without him. If it were a semi final then I think it might be different
