Hey everyone, I'm an old busted broken down second rower who has little tech knowledge so if you have questions about phones, tv's and computers maybe yiu could keep them here. Can someone help me with this one;
When selecting Lg smart tv's web browser I get a msg that reads 'The servers security certificate is not valid! Incorrect time setting may cause the error. Please check your time setting and make sure that the current time is correct.
I click the proceed button anyway and it loads the pages. I've check the TV for updates and there aren't any and I'm using telstra unlimited broadband. The time in settings is Brisbane. Is there a way to solve this ever increasing problem. ?
Cheers, Steve

Sounds like you need to go into settings and adjust the time to the correct time....

Complete a system update, maybe.

Can you not change the setting to current location?

Its set on EST Brisbane which is where I live, times on websites reflect this and tv set to auto updates, i like the idea of system reboot but there doesnt seem to be any provisions for that, it started happening just once in a while but now its everytime i go to a site, frustrating.

Time to upgrade to that 80"

It worked! I changed it to WA and it worked. I've left it in WA and see if it continues to work. Just found out that I can put a USB into a TV port that has an executable file from Lg on it to reset TV after which I can reinstall updates, if I'm still having trouble in a couple of days I'll pursue that road, cheers guys. 'Ask and thou shalt receive' or something like that 🙂

I'm scared to ask for advice now because it's becoming really jammed on here on Tech Stuff and hard to get a word in, what a great topic I generated. I would like to thank innsaneink, TigerWest and Demps for making this Thread great again. 🤪 Stay tuned for rivetting new threads coming your way....thinking about one called 'mating rituals of the dung beatle' Got any suggestions you would like?

I'm hoping one of you learned friends can suggest something ref. using mobile phones and smart TV with the forum wesite.
My mobile phone is one of the latest Samsung Note9.
Whenever I reply to a post it takes me to a new tab.
If I forget to close the tabs I could end up with several tabs being open.
It's not a big thing but it seems to have happened after the last forum update, any suggestions?
Is this occuring on your mobile phone and is it a normal thing that I've simply not noticed it before?

Another issue.

When using my smart TV to open the forum web site it displays an "invalid security certificate" warning. [see pic below]
I open it anyway because I believe it's a trusted source. [Well I hope so 🤔]
I know recently we couldn't access the site because the certificate had expired.
So last weeks episode is is ongoing for me. The site is accessible but I'm sick of getting these warnings.
I don't have any warnings using my mobile to open the forum.
I've reset the TV, updated the TV and reset the TV date/time in the settings which worked once then went back to showing the warning again.
It doesn't display the warning if I open a different URL on my TV eg. www.how2bhumblewhenperfect.com
My TV is one of the latest smart TV's.

I think the server certificate has expired. SSL certificates are not valid forever. They do expire.
The certificates may have a lifespan of no longer than 27 mths (two years + you can carry over up to three months when you renew with time remaining on your previous certificate).
Try updating the browser
Obviously check date and time is correct
Try resetting/updating the device itself (pending if there is an update)

It may sound technical, however I used to work in IT.
Hope you get thru it mate 👍🏻

Kick it or bang the top of TV with a fist.

Yeh thanks mate... I did all the updates of tv, dates etc.
The security cert is from Kul end isn't it. As I said all sites I visit don't come up with that warning only WT forum.

Definitely from Kuls end. There's no problems with your devices etc.
I had the same message pop up last week reg certificate expiry on the forum.
I think Kul has updated the cert. The forum seems to be running perfectly fine imo.

That's the thing, when the site went down I couldn't even get the site to load using Smart TV or mobile phone, now that they've fixed it my phone connects perfectly but my TV doesn't.
It shows the security warning and an option to ignore it and open it.
I choose to open it because I trust it.
It only happens with the WTF and no other site. That's what I can't understand.
I sent the original post and pic to Kul.
Hopefully he'll have an answer.
