The only thing the kids can't use is Wikipaedia at the kids school

They have to search properly for all info

And its amazing when you tell kids what really happened

The one thing I been trying to push with my son is to ask himself what he believes

They had just been studying about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and I asked him ased on wha he learnt whether it was right or wrong and why did he believe that ??

Then gave him some extra info that the Americans had told everyone after the bombings

You ased him wha…?

I Hope EB's grammar is better than happy's.

The Prime example that no matter how great the Technology..GIGO will always apply…GARBAGE IN GARBAGE OUT...

It's easy to blame technology, but we had technology growing up that was advanced to what our parents have, and they gave us the same argument we are now giving the kids of today.

the world is constantly changing. Technology is just a by-product of increased intelligence & advances through the years.

Yes, it seems things like handwriting are on the decline. But I bet typing skills are way advanced from when we grew up.

Kids aren't playing out on the street as much, but gym membership numbers have never been higher, with people using machines we could only dream of 20 years ago, and not only that, using them at all hours of the day to fit around workloads.

Like it or not, but we are the grumpy parents we laughed at growing up. Change is hard to accept when you grew up one way. But it doesn't make it bad, or the current generation worse.

Well I hope the garbage out continues , he is one of the top students in his classes

The garbage in will stop shortly , then it will come from a tutor

I was born in the 60's, i for one am thankful for the new technologies, i think we all remember the past with rose tinted glasses.

Technology is killing employment .
Went to the Casino on Saturday and no Cashier staff work, there is a machine that changes notes and any payouts you get, they give you a printed ticket with a barcode….you put it in the machine and gives you the money in notes and coins.
McDonald's has a machine that you make your order and pay......soon they with have a conveyer belt where you barcode your receipt it then allows you to lift the lid and grab your McDonald's meal :unamused:.

Everybody should just be glad we don't have to hear this noise every day anymore. Swag and Milky probably don't even know what this is:

That's not true. Unemployment in Australia isn't rising is conjunction with the rate of technological advancement.

For every cashier needing to find new work there is 5 new people building the replacement machines..

And then the employer gets a 457 to do the work because we lack the skilled labour to do such work for the low pay that they get paid , the cashier doesn't become unemployed they just get less hours

It is in some aspects, my mate is the Manager of Coles and said to me they couldn't find hours for 5 of there Casuals and cut back by 5 staff when the new self service check out machines came in…..now they have 1 person overlooking 12 checkout machines.

Did you have a dragster, Glen?

😱pen_mouth:

I sure did.Very similar to the one in the photo.
You know the type you had to back pedal a bit, so when you change one of the 3 gears is would change.
Also had the magneto style generator that "flicked hard against your tire, to make the front light worked. Not much brightness from light going up hill, unless of course was following the girl in photo, 😛ray: with her dragster.  ( of course to the chase theme of benny hill show)

Not forgetting the " footy card" secured by a peg on the front forks somewhere, to get the clicking noise. :crazy.
gee I miss doing " wheelies", wasn't too bad at them.

Sure is Happy. I'm very good with Math, but even i get a bit confused with some of the teaching methods teachers use nowadays at school. It can be frustrating, but i always try and show my kids an easier way of doing it. Then i get " No mum, this isn't how we are shown to do it at school" :unamused:

Despite a few numbats thoughts on here Maths is my strong suit as well , and even with the backtracking kids in Maths now do with equations I had to stop and think "How do I go about this "

Also we aren't happy with our Maths teacher the amounts of homework is ridiculous

2nd last weekend before exams she had given them 5 hours of Maths homework 😱pen_mouth: and quite often she will send the kids up to a dozen emails in regards to extra work

When you see your childs love for a subject turn into loathing you have to ask what is wrong
