Teddy on the mend

Bingo. Moltzen and Gordon needed a season, Covell only came back early thanks to the LARS surgery since he was already too old to wait it out.

if he is running in a couple of weeks you would think he could be back before seasons end, right?

No way in the world. Running means a very light jog in a straight line under controlled conditions. It will be some months before his knee is strong enough to start sidestepping again. The positive side of this is that he will be raring to go for the pre-season next year and should be in for a good off-season.

Different players have different recovery paths, though. Compare Tedesco and Moltzen: Tedesco only got the injury a couple of months back and he's already doing straight line running. Moltzen's two years removed from his injury and he can still only go sideways.

I've had one done and I reckon semis is a distinct possiblity.

Say for some slim chance we make the semis, you'd throw an injury recovering, 19yr old kid, with 20minutes of first grade experience and no match fitness straight back into the full back position. :roll

I think I'd prefer to gamble on Moltzen with that one.

So he should have almost a full off season and all trial games under his belt before round 1?

Sounds good, only problem is having to wait almost 12 months before tasting 1st grade again.

Thats assuming Moltzen is fit.

Of course I would suggest the safer option, but youn bodies heal pretty fast.

Sheens won't play him in the finals if we make it. As if he's going to rush a 19 yr old whose only played 20 mins of FG back for a finals game. I'm sure the kid wouldn't feel any pressure at all 😕

BMM at 19 debuted in the finals against Roosters in 2010…I know, its a bit different for a fullback coming back from an ACL though.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Take your time teddy you you could do a Quade! What a sorry story…..

WALLABY fly-half Quade Cooper has sent a major scare through the Reds ranks by tweaking his damaged knee in a game of touch football last night that he randomly organised through Twitter.

Cooper today underwent scans on Thursday at Brisbane Private Hospital to discover to what degree he has re-injured the knee that ended his World Cup in Auckland last October.

Cooper has spent six months on the sidelines rehabilitating the knee and had just returned to non-contact training with the Queensland team.

The talented footballer put out a tweet earlier this week to find a touch rugby team to play for to give himself a further test.

Cooper's agent Khoder Nasser confirmed today from Sydney that the Wallaby had hurt his knee but said it was considered, "minor".

yes, an ACL is a huge injury, but as others have said, recovery times do vary, so if he works on rebuilding his quad (imo the most important part of recovery following a reco) and is REALLY right to play at the back end i would play him.
no, i wouldnt take a risk, but i also wouldnt place any conditions on his return. lawrence is a regenerative freak, but he has come back from injuries and done well.

on the fullback issue, does anyone else think meaney should have been given a go there?! granted, moltzen improved last week, but i would still like to see him at least get a bit of time at fb…..

I recall Sheensie was gonna play a very young McDonnell to cover for Pattycake in the gf.

Teddy may fully recover from his knee reco in time for the finals, as many have said recovery time is different. I am 10 months in to my recovery and still can't run. Even if he was fit to return there is no way I would play him because IMO overcoming the injury mentally is just as hard as the physical rehab. When he does come back I don't think we will see him at his best straight away. The bloke is a kid and has his whole career ahead of him, don't rush him back

yeh, agree 100%. youre right. i had one as well and okay, im sorry, i was playing aussie rules at the time, but i was actually once talking about tennis when a team mate said i would be a left hander. didnt know what he meant, but it was because i actually always kicked left footed afterwards because of my (right) knee and i always kicked left foot without even realising it.
it really does play a huge part psycholocially. once it happens (particularly as mine happened inexplicably like tedesco's did) it plays on your mind for bloody ages.

youve changed my mind. good luck for 2013 teddy.

The best case scenario is that Tedessco is ready for full training day 1 of pre season training. That would be far from guranteed.

To the guys and gals who think we will see James again in 2012 You need a massive a reality check

No way in hell we will see him again this season and Sheens ,Leeds or anyone else at the club won't even be thinking about it

But wait until 2013 when James is ripping the NRL apart

Stop the nonsense talk about Minichello ,Moltzen etc

We have seen the future and it is definitely going to be James Tedesco in the No 1 for a long ,long time

Let's be realistic , happy.
The kid has played barely 30 minutes of first grade and now everyone thinks he's the next Slater and our saviour in waiting.
He'll have enough pressure on him just getting over the injury without the expectation of being the next big thing.
I think everyone needs to chill a little and let him get on with getting back to full fitness without the all the hype.
When he does get back just watch some of his so called fans get the knives out if he doesn't perform the minute he runs on the field.
