"Teddy"

he had already had one foot out the door when he signed with canberra and Robbie helped talk hom out of it. Unfortunately we were never keeping teddy.
He is the only player that was irreplaceable whe he left

I don't think he would be the player he is if he stayed with us

At the same time, he wouldn't be the player he is if it weren't for the tough losses and individual brilliance he needed to win games here.

From all reports, he has his own physio, sports psych, recovery stuff he does and pays for from his own pocket.

I hope we helped him somewhere with that professionalism

The worst part of Teddys game is that he often gets too involved and takes more than his share of ball. I believe this is a left over legacy from his days here where he had to play like that as no one else had much go about them.
Apart from that though….his call to join Roosters has to be up there with the best tactical career decisions I’ve seen. Captained premierships, captained SOO series wins, captained Test and WC titles, with the exception of the golden boot, he has won every major award that you can win- some multiple times. The bloke will retire not just one of the games greats, but also one of the most decorated.
Would all of that happened had he stayed a Tiger? Not a snowballs chance in hell.

Out of the last 10 years, or possibly even longer, without doubt, the only player I wish we had kept...ahead of the mess that was the big four, at the time...

You?
He never really wanted to stay here, couldn’t wait to get out of the place! Never gives us a mention or a second thought, never talks about his early days playing with Wests Tigers or being supported by them through his long term injuries. As far as he is concerned, we don’t exist. Glad he is gone, worse one of the so called big 4 by a country mile, imo.

Pays for it himself 😂😂

I have said this before , if bula wants to be a class fullback , watch Teddy and how he plays , always supporting, taking hit ups to help his forwards , and just his all around game ,

If only he could get 50 % of what Teddy does , he would do us

You can doubt it as much as you want , true or not, but that's apparently a well known thing.

Regardless, his professionalism is elite. Looks after his body better than anyone else

When he signed with the Roosters he rold his mates the Roosters have guarantee him he will never pay for anything ever again. His mates were happy to tell people. I highly doubt he is paying his own physio and the like

Rubbish he doesn’t dip his cap to his time at the Tigers.

I think the "strict" medical stuff would be 100% overseen by the Roosters medical team - after all he has been (and still is) an integral part of the team, so they have more than a vested interest in making sure he is fit.

On the side, he may have his own dietician, or assistant/mentor - nothing wrong with that. To my mind, as as others have said, adds to his professionalism.

Why would be though? Not as a slight to us, but he moved on nearly a decade ago. Won premierships, captained NSW etc. Why would he talk about something to him that’s in the distant past. Especially at his current club? I don’t think anyone would have liked if Luai did it. I remember Tamou used to wax on about the Panthers and it really boiled my piss.

When he ultimately decided to leave for the Roosters in 2017, Tedesco expressed regret over the way it happened and how it affected the fans, but not the decision itself. Which by the way was the right thing to do, in my opinion.

Lots of elite players outside Australia do it.

Michael Clarke did it for his lower back, Slater for his shoulder.

Club physios are good sports physios but don't specialise in specific joints.

Whether he pays or the Club is not the most important thing ,but getting help from specialists for your sleep, diet, sports psych etc , other players learn from it.

Lebron James spends close to $2m USD in recovery off his own pocket. Travels and pays for his own massage, podiatrists, custom orthotics etc
