"Teddy"

When he signed with the Roosters he rold his mates the Roosters have guarantee him he will never pay for anything ever again. His mates were happy to tell people. I highly doubt he is paying his own physio and the like
I've heard this many times - that's the Roosters deal. When you are in good with the Roosters, they cover everything, but not officially, they just refer you to people who will "sort you out, no problem".

Want a new suit? We know a guy, he'll fix you up. Need an apartment for a little while? Got a contact who can do you a deal. Want your teeth fixed? Go see my dentist. Want some party drugs? Hell just ask a teammate, you don't need special contacts for that stuff.

Cracking player and can't begrudge him. It left a slightly sour taste that he left after those major injuries but Roosters are the kind of club that can guarantee several rep quality players around you, strong culture, good coaching and care off the field.

That Roosters side has more origin/international level players than we have had in our existence. If they come knocking, it would be hard to turn them down.

LOL we are all so salty.

Not just roosters, every team gives you "benefits" outside the cap. All companies do.

They just have a better network than most clubs.

Teddy played good when he was here, didn't agitate for a release and didn't talk bad on the way out. He's already better than 90% of those who have left us.

Apologetics. Every time his contract was up he went to market to press us; he hasn't done that at the Roosters. 2012 he negotiated with the Dragons whilst playing NYC, 2014 he backflipped publicly on the Raiders, 2017 he signed with Roosters.

Of course it's salty; everything about League is salty unless you walk away with the trophy.

He joined a heartless mercenary glamour club whose billionaire Chairman fixes you up, so long as you still have value to them.

Proof of the mercenary nature of the club is how often top-tier players leave Roosters in the prime of their careers to earn a mint playing the other code: Sonny Bill, Sua'ali'i, Angus Crichton, Marky Mark, Joey Manu. So many of these then wander back to the NRL, often for a "we'll fix you up" second Roosters stint.

I'll give it to you that Tedesco hasn't bad-mouthed the club and played to his potential at Tigers. The downside is we developed him, gave him his debut and then endured a terrible injury run where he spent most of 2 of the first 3 seasons on the sidelines. Roosters picked up a guy entering the prime of his career, after he'd gotten his body used to the weekly grind.

And worst for me, despite being a professional, is that Tedesco was the 1 player in 2017 that we really needed to keep, to help right the ship and provide a stable base for the team. Tedesco was the only one that other clubs really wanted - Moses wasn't established yet and Woods obviously bounced around clubs the minute he left. But Tedesco was the prize and rather than help the club, he left for the same money.

Now I can understand why personally he'd do that and it's worked out for him - 3 premierships. But he plays for a dog club who screw the system to their ongoing advantage - 6 Top 4 finishes in the past 10 years and never missed the finals; Minor Premiers 3 of the 4 seasons prior to that.

Yes we'd screw the system if we could, but the reality is only some clubs can manage it, and it comes at the expense of other clubs (by definition). It's like saying "we'd all be billionaires if we could", as justification that billionaires are all OK and something we should all aspire to.

Of the Sydney clubs only Penrith has that kind of staying power, but they have the largest junior nursery in the country and one of the biggest clubs in the Southern Hemisphere. Roosters have a decent club and a threadbare junior district. They poach juniors and flex their salary sombrero to make the rest of it work.

Agree
The benefits are what you get as an elite sportsman.
We just don't have the knowledge or ability to provide.
