Tedesco Thread || He's staying!

So it seems the Balmain Leagues club will be unable to meet their financial obligations to Wests Tigers unless they privatise their shares to some rich benefactor i.e Harry Triguboff. Which shouldn't worry the players too much as the NRL will guarantee the players payments, however, if the Balmain Leagues don't cough up their share then the NRL will assume their stake in Wests Tigers and will look to relocate the team to somewhere such as Perth. Not a total loss IMO

So the only thing Tedesco has to worry about with the Tigers is possibly being relocated a number of years down the track for which he could just have a clause in his next contract stating otherwise…

A few things worry me.

when asked about his contract he said 'I don't know yet' which means he is thinking about other options.

Now the Roosters are after him and they are after someone to replace minichello.

we know the bulldogs roosters Manly those 3 teams always find ways to get around the cap to sign quality players, and clubs like us for some reason can never get around it. Teddy also wanted to sign with the roosters a few years ago because he was a roosters fan.

I'd be signing him fast, then sign Nofu, I think Koro is going to have to walk, he may have speed but I think he is overated his defence is woeful Nofu is a much more complete modern day winger

Its easy to say ''let this guy go, let that guy go'', they still need to replace guys with minimum based contracts.

Roosters have been investing a lot of time and effort into RTS. If they were to outbid us and stick Teddy on the wing they're insane (although they could put him in the centres to replace SKD).

Manly have Stewart, Hiku and Gutherson. They don't need a #1.

Bulldogs need a fullback but cannot offer him anything substantial if we believe what some of their players are on. Or they have some very creative accountants

Not sure if this article has already been posted but have a read of this:

He definitely wants to stay here, as does his teammates but Sam Ayoub is still scouring the market and Tedesco is obviously leaving things in his hands at the moment.

I wouldn't be surprised if they found a deal with another club but all we can do is hope that Tedesco's future at the Tigers is Mayer's no.1 priority.

it amuses me that people think Mayer and the club wont be trying their best to sign him.

Others will also be trying to get him, no doubt, and they may well succeed, but regardless the club will try there best, Im sure of that.

Stranger things have happened in this club over the years

Do go on….

Every contract bungle over the 2011/2012 period. Granted the only player we miss from that lot is Fifita, we looked like amateurs for a good two years when it came to writing contracts. One minute someone's signed, nek minute they're a Shark.

Well if Mayer wants to keep Tedesco , they'd better offer him what he is worth

Not what they'd like to pick him up for

Because if they don't increase their initial offer , Teddy will leave and he'd be mad not to leave

Michael Lichaa just signed with the Dogs. Don't know how much, but surely the Dogs are finished on their shopping spree…?

Those concerned are now all gone…

Let's have a bit of a review. In Wests Tigers history, how many players have we made a priority to retain, but failed simply due to funds or facilities?

Pat Richards took an offer from ESL.
Prince left because of family demands.
Laffranchi was poached by the Titans first year and was from the area originally.
O'Donnell was let go to Cowboys.
Fifita was offered to Sharks in a trade deal.
Hoffman was made a substantial offer as a junior, that we were not willing to match because of all the other promising juniors in his time. Same thing happened with Santi.
Beau Ryan, Gibbs, Heighno were let go to Sharks.
Lui was cut due to off-field behaviour.
Benji was let go after requesting a release to rugby.
Collis, De Gois, Reddy, Tuqiri, Ayshford, Morris, Gallant, Gower, Moors, Hodgo etc. were not offered new contracts, or offered very modest ones.

The only player I can think of, that we made a complete effort to retain but couldn't match another club offer, was Ben Te'o. But Ben Te'o is of the Fifita, Folau, SBW mold, he is interested in the next contract rather than in-club development.

Banking on history, I would back the club to retain Tedesco.

No doubt I would put my trust in the club to do whatever they can in their financial power to keep Tedesco, so really our only doubt currently lies in what other clubs can offer.

Dogs just announced Michael Lichaa as another signing for 2015, so they'd surely be out of the running now.

Only worry is the Roosters i think.

I have a bad feeling about this one. A troubled club with very exciting juniors and young guns is like a fat gazzele on the plains of the Serangeti with an injured leg. The predators sniff it out and attack.

Like wise the NRL predators are noticing our troubles and will surely be after our kids. Keeping them together will be tough. If Mayer pulls it off, we have the backbone of a premiership winning squad withing 4 years. However some may experience that earlier if they go to the glamour clubs. Roosters are hot at the moment and Teddy will be tempted I am sure.

Loyalty will have nothing to do with it for mine, if he feels the club is going to help him achieve his goals in football he will stay. The kid is destined to play International footy…can Wests Tigers facilitate this by becoming a consistent top 8 side? I think so in the near future.

Apparently Tedesco isn't the player his in-law was talking about.

I'm not going off any info, but i have a sneaky feeling Parra might make a play for him. Move Hayne to 5/8 and bobs your uncle.

So that rules them out then

Pity their is only 14 other clubs to worry about

If I was in Teddy's shoes a few clubs come to mind

Cowboys ,Dogs, Eels ,Roosters ,Titans just to name the obvious

And that doesn't include the Reds ,Rebels , Force and the Auckland Blues
