I'm not having a go but what has Mayer done to make people dislike him? We haven't lost any player of note yet. He's definitely kicked marketing/membership packages up a gear…I mean we now have fan forums, evenings with coaches etc...Can't really blame him for on field performances ...yet.

The only real irk for me is the jersey recall and stock levels. Hopefully this gets sorted...I was planing on getting the anniversary one.

In saying that if teddy leaves than off with his head.

so if the dogs come and offer teddy 800k and we lose him, then off with mayer's head?

cant make such a black and white statement like that when there's so many other vairables. Mayer has said he will pay market price for teddy, and thats exactly what we should do. no point inflating prices and overpaying for him imo. we probably did that for gibbs, blair and lawrence and now our cap is hamstrung until the end of next year.

Picture me applying my palm to my forehead and looking sad…

I was being sarcastic, obvious as I thought it was I am a Mayer fan.

Only early in his career, but players like him don't come up very often, these are the guys you build a team around. You make room for blokes like him and do what it takes even if it means losing some-one like Galloway, BMM etc.

I'm sure that's what they thought of Benji's last 5 year contract he signed aswell , everyone was glad when he left .

When I started watching rugby league many years back Newtown was the team I followed, A few years before this a 19 year old Newtown junior by the name of John Raper was playing first grade for Newtown. He didn't play many games for Newtown because St. George quickly made him an offer which he accepted. As history will tell you St. George went on to win something like 12 first grade premierships in a row and Newtown eventually permenantly exited the first grade competition. Who knows what might have happened had Raper stayed with Newtown.

I have no real idea what a back is worth in the world of third party deals etc. Still the people saying throw the bank at him are probably the ones who wanted to sign Lawrence for life as he was going to be the next rep superstar. All players are only one bad injury away from being not up to first grade anymore and it is a big gamble to commit any more than a certain % of the salary cap to one player. I really hope Tedesco stays but if he wants a mega deal that puts the club at risk of having no depth to cover injuries then I can't see the sense in it.

Imo Teddy is a different player to Marshall, we tried to build a team around Benji and unfortunately he was too inconsistent for such a key position. Look at how much we struggled when Tedesco went off on the weekend he organises our defence and provides our spark in attack and knows when to chime in. Id rather we take the chance positives out way the negatives, yeh could end up like Lawrence or he could end up like Slater, but that's footy to win a premiership you need to take risks and Build a team we have the chance to do that.

Well said grant.

It's up to the club to determine whether to take that risk or not- as supporters all we can do is have faith in them and hope it works out. The $$$ will never be disclosed publicly- no way for us to find out whether we should've taken the risk or not IMO.

Thanks Milky. I can't see myself ever changing again.

Like I said, Anthony Milford is getting $1m per year. If you want talent, you have to pay up. Tedesco isn't even asking for that so the Tigers should be greatful.

I have no idea if this is true but it sounds highly unlikely. If it is true that is a team killer and we should ensure we don't do that.

Hopefully the club offers a fair contract and hopefully Teddy accepts. At the end of the day though I'll wait and see what happens.

I'm sure Teddy can get a labouring job the side at one of Harry's building sites. Say $600k per year… Should supplement the wests tigers offer nicely.

Meriton is a club affiliate as a sponsor. That would count under club TPA's.

There's one way to the bottom and that's paying ludicrous numbers for an unproven fullback. The great clubs are built around loyalty - not big pay packets for a few undeserving.

Just putting it out there.

If the Tigers offer is comparable & he wants to stay he will.

So your saying if he gets a better offer and he wants to leave he will…interesting.

I've been doing my salary negotiations all wrong.

If his offer from another Club is Massive overs he probably will, we cant go mad with a silly offer, But a good offer might keep him. Also last week he was supposed to be staying.

Milford apparently is getting $1m a year, Tedesco at half that is a massive steal.

Id be very surprised if Milford does get $1 mil a year despite the reports in the paper.

The value of someone like Tedessco is tough.

You are factoring in potential to any payment, and he is in a key spot (in the modern game arguably the most important spot) so that leads you to a big payment…..on the flip side, he has shown some talent, but is hardly a proven performer as yet.

If you go all out and he doesnt kick on, you look like an idiot who stuffed it....if you are not prepared to go to high he moves on and he does go on to be the player we think he can be, again, you look like an idiot.

Lets face it, there has been plenty of potential world beaters that never reach their full potential.

Until their upgrades DCE and Foran were on less than $250k, so compared to that $500k for Tedessco is way too much...... (just devils advocate to the Milford comment)

This saga is easily resolved.

Pay Tedesco what the best offer he has on the table from other clubs…but from a WT point of view structure the contract where at least 40% of the total contract payment is based on achievement of outcomes, such as playing SOO, or running 100M for 20 games of the season, etc.... This way the onus is on Tedesco to make a decision, take the easy money and run or stay with his mates and still make the big $$$ on offer only is he achieves.
