If he does decide to go Canberra would you pick him in First Grade for the rest of this year?

Nope. We need to evaluate the future of the fullback position, so Rowe/Nof/Simona will get their cracks at it for the rest of the year. Tedesco can play NSW Cup for all I care.

Nah … I'd be real petty about it , play him in nsw cup and just keep stringing him along by saying ..
I think you could be ready for first grade next week"
Even though I think we could still make the semis !

It's the old argument of developing a player who isn't going to be there next year anyway. Canberra would be getting the benefits of him being in NRL in 2014 if he does decide to sign there.

I would hope that if the Tigers' offer is in the ballpark of Canberra that he would stay. But, I don't know enough about Teddy or his mindset to know how much influence Sam Ayoub could have on him in making a decision. All I know is that it will be in Sam's best interest, not on Teddy or the Tigers or the Raiders.

While we are a chance of Top 8 I would definitely pick him for first grade. if things change or if his form drops then he needs to replaced by next years fullback if he is already at tigers - Rowe, Nofo, Moltzen? Maybe do what the Rooster do and swap Nofo and Tedesco between wing and fb during games? Having said that I hope he stays but it would be hard to say no to 800k.

Nope not in your life

I would only want players who want to be here and will play hard for the club and their team mates.

Cool his heels in NSW cup rest of year, let Rowe and or Moses play and develop for the future.

We're not gonna win anything this year so it continues to be a development year.

As much as I want Tedesco to stay, in some ways I hope we haven't offered a ballpark figure to him if they have offered 800k. That is a massive amount to spend on one player. We have so much young talent to keep here over the next few years. I think if the tigers have offered 400-500k that should be the limit. If he leaves for better money so be it.

Just because the guy signs elsewhere there is always put him in the Reggies for the rest of his tenure , this thinking is just ridiculous .The club will only prosper with a competitive team week in week out and the end game is to finish as high up the ladder as possible to secure future memberships and sponsors.

We haven't not prospered without him in the 1000 games he's has missed with injury. Building a Competitive team takes time and having him take a position for the next 15 rounds or so (depending upon when his next injury occurs) at the expense of Rowe or Moses who will be with us for the long term is ridiculous.

Missing the top 8 with such a young team is not the end of the world. How are future memberships going to be sold by promoting James Tedesco if he leaves? Come watch a player who won't be here next year? Then in 2015, Tigers are stuck with no fullback, because they thought short term and didn't evaluate any options during the year.

I'd rather see what we have in Rowe, Simona and Nofoaluma and see if any of them can be the future, rather than developing Tedesco so the Raiders can benefit from it. And if that means a couple of less wins for a clearer image of who is the future at that position, so be it. Because all playing Tedesco does is delay that decision by a year, where the ramifications are larger.

Didn't Scott Prince keep playing 1st grade after he told the club mid-year he was playing with another club in the next year?

The future means nothing if you are not winning games that's the bottom line, sponsors want to the exposure of a winning team not be seen as associated with a club that treats its players with bitterness , and I know that the majority of supporters would fell the same.

If the club offer him a fair price( 500k) tops and he decides to chase the big dollars to Canberra than that's fair enough. But it will show a lot about his character and commitment to the team. He knows he is wanted and has a chance to build something special. If he wants to chase the dollars I would negotiate a release this season and we can continue to build and develop our future with players who are committed to the club. This will stop all the distractions, allow us to blood our future fullback and improve our salary cap. If Tedesco is worth $800,000 then Robbie farah is an absolute steal at $900,000.

You have to ask yourself is Teddy worth
1.5 Brook's
3.0 Austen's
2.0 Siro's
2.5 Nofo's
2.5 Simona's
.90 of a Farah
equal to Woods or a fraction more
4 x a Sue

And the list goes on

Its all about getting the right balance and keeping most of the troops happy. Thank god Mayer unlike a few before him know you can only go so far before you create massive problems. To win a NRL comp you need a squad of about 25 very good players, Not two world beaters and 23 plodders.

Big Patty played a good chunk of 2005 after signing with Wigan,
How did that work out again?

Completely different. Club was happy for patty to go at that time. Whether it was right or wrong it was a completely mutual decision.

So to all those great mates of James Tedesco…

Time to tell us all if he is staying or going??

Surely you have the inside mail?!

Very well put.
