just wish i could see the books

I think the books are hurting from the last round of backending and overpaying.

Something tells me we are headed in the right direction now

along with what dead money we have on the books i am interested in seeing what we have been paying for these youngsters to stay here.
plus i wonder what lawrence, blair and moltzen are costing us next year.

The question is are we using all our cap money to pay players wages or are we using that money on other things. If we need the money elsewhere to survive that's fine but please don't tell me we are at our limit just on players payments.

As regards to his mates being here…Yes they are here Now but where will they be in 2-3 years time ?

What about Lawrence's mates and Farah's mates...McKinnon Asyford Ryan Marshall Gibbs Flanagan Ellis Heighington Fifita etc etc. A new crop will be coming through and guaranteed in 3 years time some of his mates will have moved on.

What happened to the $2.4million we couldn't compete with? News Ltd claimed he is taking only $1.9million over 3 years, and we didn't come close! I would have thought that $500k per year would be close, so obviously we weren't even offering him that much. Mayer's a clown if he thinks Tedesco is only worth $400k.

Obviously paying overs for the likes of Blair and Anasta has finally come back to bite us on the bum. $500k for Blair and $200k for Anasta is seriously paying overs. Add to that Moltzen, god knows how much he's being paid to watch from the grandstand. I feel that we were lucky to keep Brooks, but if the board doesn't realise the importance of marquee players in the spine, then they have no idea. As good as players like Simona are, centres are not nearly as important as fullbacks. We will not see as good a fullback playing for Wests Tigers as Tedesco for the entire career of Brooks.

Mayer -FAIL!

Now,now children! Wests Tigers are a business which can't afford the petulant displays suggested here. The club must finish as high up the ladder as possible and it won't do that by choosing other than what are considered by the club as its best players. To do otherwise would be to give less than what is deserved by our sponsors and members.

James Tedesco, from 2015, is a free agent and the club put a certain value on him which he declined in favour of a higher one. Being a fan does not entitle you to claim disloyalty - he owes you nothing. He will probably go on to be a star but not with us, so now we need to identify a replacement; something that we will all have an opinion on. I want to see young Rowe develop in NSW Cup and maybe get a few opportunities in NRL this year. I really think that with a full off season and Potter as coach, he will blossom.

We all need to stop behaving like jilted lovers and face reality. Yes, he will play as much NRL as possible this year and no he won't be relegated to NSW Cup in some fit of vengeance by the coach and club. Players come and go but the Wests Tigers remains the constant. I, like most others will be cheering for James for the rest of this year but next year I won't be.

The tale of the Wests Tigers continues.

Meanwhile Kevin proctor rejects more money from Canberra to stay at the storm.

And here come all the short sighted fans saying why it's best for Tedesco to play this year in the NRL. It's not bitterness at all, but rather doing what's best for the club.

So after all the work we put in to Tedesco this is how we are repaid. The club should be entitled to some form of compensation. This is what I have always despised about Rugby League …. You can put money and time into developing and in this case rehabilitating a player only for him to walk out on you. And the other team gets all the benefit of years of work. Doesn't seem fair.

Whats best for the club is trying to win a premiership. And to do that you pick your best 17, and whether anyone wants to admit it or not, Tedesco is in that best 17\. We're a professional rugby league club for gods sake, not a jilted teenage girl.

i've always wondered that. you buy a player for 'x' amount of money- develop, nourish and look after them and at the end of the contract their prices is 'x+y'.. i mean if they say NRL is a business, shouldnt the club be compensated some of the 'y' ?

Simple

Transfer fees for players beyond a certain numbers of years. For someone in the club "system" for longer than say 5 years then a transfer fee applies to compensate development costs

You FAIL to understand Blair, Anasta, Moltzen were signed by Sheens & Humphreys not Mayer/Potter….

The Mentals Quote, If you leave me can I come too? You could always stay, But If you leave me can I come too and if you go, can I come too?
That's it! I'm off to become a Raiders supporter. Who's coming along?? Uhhh yep.

I'm with the others that would not play Tedesco again in firsts this season. I hold nothing against him and have said from the beginning it's his right to make a commercial decision about his future, and I'd defend that right. But I firmly believe that the team will now need to start working on its future fullback and player combinations. He has moved on, so must we. Why get a false sense of our progress as a team with him in place, rather than move on and have a realistic understanding of our team development? So long and thanks for all the fish.

People saying stick Teddy in Nsw cup have rocks in their head, we have had a more than acceptable start to the season and quite frankly he is our best option at 1 for this season. Throwing our toys out of the pram and hurting our chances this year is just rubbish. I like everyone wished he would have stayed but how do you compete with $630k a season, that's marquee stuff and with 25 games under his belt he isn't that.
But he is contracted for this season and is our best 1 so he plays IMO.

Totally agree Doc. We need to win games, and will win a lot more with him in the side than out. If the team goes well it will make it easier for the club to attract sponsors. Don't cheer him if you don't want to, but give him a chance to put in 100% for the rest of the season and see what happens.

Organise a contingency plan but play your best 17 week in, week out.

Doc and Barra,
I understand your points and I agree that dropping Tedesco should not be the result of bitterness or a tantrum, and to some extent agree re attracting sponsors etc.
So Ok we concentrate on this season with Tedesco in place; are we really finalist contenders this year? Or are we still a developing team building plays and combinations towards a future finals run? If the first is true, keep Tedesco in place and go for it. If the second is true (and I believe it is) develop someone else in the fullback role for the future. As a fan, winning games is fun, winning finals is funner.

The worst thing imo about it all is Kurtis Rowe probably gets dumped back to reggies

We should all get behind him.

He copped heaps at first and while Im not sure hes the long term answer, hes shown some ticker, which is all i ask
