Crowded House will headline the Australian Open’s first-ever opening ceremony next month with a greatest hits set at Rod Laver Arena.

The band will perform on January 17 ahead of a showcase doubles match featuring Roger Federer, Andre Agassi, Patrick Rafter and Lleyton Hewitt.

Frontman Neil Finn said the group was “delighted” to help mark the opening of the tournament alongside legends of the game.

The performance forms part of a broader Australian Open summer music program featuring The Kid Laroi, Hot Chip and Peggy Gou.

That’s an eclectic grouping of performers. A legendary Kiwi band, an English synth pop group, a Korean DJ/ singer plus one token Aussie. 🤣

Former champion Stan Wawrinka and Australians Jordan Thompson and Chris O’Connell will take their place in the men’s singles main draw at AO 2026 after being awarded wildcards.

Great news! Stan the Man will play the AO in his final year on the tour.

His final AO hopefully gets a nice draw early on.

Anyone watching the United Cup, Demon has had years to work on his serve, it's about time he got it right.
I was out there tonight. Alex has an amazing ability to absorb powerful opponents and wear them down with his consistency and great court coverage. That is why he has made in into the world top 6 and he has so far gotten everything out of his ability (if only Kyrgios could say the same)

unfortunately it is doubtful he will be able to ever beat the very top players.

In truth not many players can beat the top players. Sinner and Alcaraz will end up with as many grand slams as Fed, Nadal & Djokovic.
