Terrell Mays defence

Why would you ignore that game though?

The Storm game has come home to roost …it was embarrassing and May had some struggles ( not that he was alone by any means) .. a lot of people here want to excuse it by saying …”give the Tigers a break .. it was against the Storm and they are really good “…

I didn’t see the Raiders or Sharks going in with that same mental attitude in the game before or after …and they showed that the Storm may not be the team they used to be

Having said all that The thing about May that I am annoyed with is that Stefano beat him out for the position in the extended bench ..that should never have happened but I suspect Bellamy has had some influence over Daley there
It’s worthwhile to go back and watch that game and focus on what Stefano does and what Terrell does. If there was a stat for post contact metres conceded per player Terrell would win it hands down.
I didn’t recall him having a great game watching live but watching it closely it was bad.
To see if it was a one off, I went back and watched the Broncos game, watching Haas as well in particular, the Sharks game watching AFB as well as the Bulldogs round 4 game vs the Sharks where they were missing a stack of players.
If you take the orange black and white glasses off you can see for yourself what Laurie Daley is highlighting.

On the Storm game, Terrell recently came out and said he did a 3 day fast prior to it. Big no no; would definitely explain why his energy and physicality was down. I’ve done a couple in the past and whilst you start feeling great after about 2 days in you feel absolutely shit once you start eating again.
(Save it for the bye rounds please Terrell!).

So many other players defence they could and should be picking apart in all seriousness it's pathetic that it has resorted to publically looking for a negative against a player, who to date has had a cracking season, to justify his omission.
NRL journalism continues to sink to lowest of lows. I reckon they should all take the Bennett approach.

I didnt say I'd ignore it, i said it would be unfair to base all assumptions on the sample size of 1 game against the best team in the comp.

you could be onto something...
More so the Roosters as a whole and the powerful people there, and the embarrassment on the club.
And Utoikamanu leaving us to win a premiership and rep jerseys at the Storm only to discover his replacement at WTs beat him to the SOO.

One thing to note against Melbourne is that he had a 3 day fast coming into his 3rd game in 13 days.

It's bound to weaken you a bit physically.

Defence isn't really a concern for him.

If we were playing against anyone other than Campbell Graham in the centres, I think we win. We came pretty close regardless.

We look gassed and need the rest this week anyway.

No …not all assumptions…but as you said …the Storm are the best team in the comp and the closest in quality to an Origin team..,so I would be looking at that one much closer than the others

Agree it's pathetic it is all being played out publicly but;
What other players defence should they be picking apart? There is probably less than 5 contenders for 2 front row spots behind Barnett and Haas. Thus at most only 5 players to pick apart.
Who's to say they didn't? Perhaps they did and liked what they saw from those ahead of May?
Also (I dont know the details around May's twitch comments but) May was the first to make public comments. I personally don't think there is much to them but to some extent he has brought it on himself by making them on a public forum.

I'd humbly suggest avoiding listening to NRL 360 opinions for a start. Sometimes footy is much less technical than people make out. The Storm might have targeted his concentration or looked to unsettle him early in the match, not necessarily anything technique based. Terrell May is an excellent player, so be looking out for how our forward pack performs without him in the side should he become injured or suspended.

"Forwards decide if you win or lose a game, and the backs decide by how much". With the exception of the Storm game, I don't think our forward pack has been done in by another team so far this season where we aren't getting enough chances or aren't getting up the other end of the field. That's even after we're not getting that many line breaks from our outside backs or fullbacks either.
Lots of so called good players in good systems have bad games from time but Terrell seems to be singled out.

Seems quite ironic that Trent Loiero makes the Maroons top 17 and Stefano make the Blues extended squad after having bludgers of games due to their complete lack of discipline which cost their team plenty only a couple of weeks ago.

the maroons have smaller player pools year on year… so not really a like for like comparison … if they excluded everyone who had a dud game they wouldn’t have anyone to pick … maybe Harry Grant….how the hell is DCE there for crying out loud? He has had more poor games than good this season.

Stefano is clearly there on the advice of assistant coach Bellamy …. It’s interesting that the biggest voice in Daley’s ear is Bellamy , and he was the one who exposed May the most this season … having said that … on no planet should Stef have been picked ahead of May … that underscores that May was never making it to the starting 17 in my view … even if May had of got the MOM in that Melbourne game …nothing makes sense about May this past 8 months and you would have to assume that there is something about him that has not been made public yet …

Why would he be doing that? I’m assuming the club has professionals in this area to give players advice on their diet …i wonder if this was discussed with them ?

Yeah it's a weird one. Particularly given it takes you a little while to be able to go back to the same food intake. It looked like it affected him for sure.

I think she will be at the contest for anyone wanting to have a brief (or very LONG) conversation.

Mate, he enjoys dancing with the partner/girlfriend of Connor Watson from the Sydney Roosters… don’t worry about any legal ramifications mods 🤞🏽

If tigers were in the top 4 I believe he would have been picked. King is a prime example of this.
He’s been let down by teammates

You’re possibly correct Red but I’m hoping that it pushes May to even greater heights for us.
Nobody likes rejection but it’s how you react to it. You can go sook in the corner, or you can say thanks for the constructive criticism and use it to your advantage.
If there are perceived weaknesses in his game then he now has the perfect opportunity to improve further.
And maybe, just maybe, his teammates may use it as a motivation as well ie he’s been busting a gut each week without recognition.(except API who is amazing).
