Test Cricket Draft Game...*Banter Thread...

I don't think you could pick a player purely on their keeping. You'd probably have a lot that were very average batsmen.

I think it is everyone's responsibility to make sure they pick 2 opener's, 1 spinner etc….
Some might pick 3 batsman that are all openers and be judged incorrectly.

Yeah we agreed on that FT…this is about voting time...you cant just vote 1 v 1 2's v2's
for batsmen it's ok but spinners need to come up against spinners in the batting order or it's not a fair comparison

Yeah that's what I was meaning.

Yeah I thought it was pretty much self explanatory that AR had to be Batsman/Bowler. SO GNR4LIFE you haven't wasted a pick as Sangakarra and FLintoff are close to the best picks possible for each category.

I see where you are coming from but as a keeper I would have Healy ahead of both Gilly and Sanga….

If we are judging Keepers for example

I think that will come down to the voters interpretation
For example in an actual test team you wouldn't pick someone who us a good keeper but holds the bat upside down.
Likewise a players wicket keeping ability is integral to the team.
I'm happy for voters to decide themselves whether or not they want to take a keepers batting into account.

That's fair enough..but it tricky in Sangas case as GNR has him batting at 4 where he is class…if we are adopting your voting method he cant be in both...

Yeah, hopefully there are only few anomalies like that,as obviously 9 times out of 10 a keeper bats at 7\. GNR will just have to nominate whether he wishes to use Sangakarra as his keeper or as his number 4 batsman and then be judged accordingly.

He'll be both

Haha nice try.
You need a number 4 batsman and a wicketkeeper. As Bazz said you can pick him at 4, but then you'll also need to choose a wicketkeeper. You can't have Sangakarra as your player for both positions.

What we could do is disregard voting on wicket keepers but just stipulate that 1 of your batsmen must be a wicketkeeper?

The selection process doesn't make sense Sabre. You're saying your wicket keeper needs to be in the top 6 PLUS you need an allrounder at 7\. 7 is usually where your keeper would bat.

That doesn't really work either…..you have to vote for a keeper

Kallis is another one of the best No.3's ever.... CB has him as his A/R which he is also one of the best ever...
