Everyone is entitled to their opinion, especially on a forum like this but if you can’t see that TPJ is miles in front of any of our current forwards in impact, in collision, intimidation and offloads, well….idk…this is even despite him being a little light in the top paddock.

He's also got lazy in defence and has a reputation which leads to him being penalised and suspended a lot. Gotta look at the good and the bad not just the good, hope he works out for us if we sign him, he's certainly talented

I’ve stated before I’d take both Pangai and Finucane 3 year deals maximum. My view is if you sign both Luciano may not be retained.
He’s a great player in attack but defensively carrying Pangai and Luciano would be troublesome.

I kind of agree . I just worry that Luci has bought into the culture whereas the rumour with tevita , is tevita worries about tevita . That’s pretty scary as well

I agree with all you said - I still think he improves our team, which is the aim.
No-one is perfect, except probably....... ?

We need our first real player that will attract others.

TPJ isnt perfect but hes a little LOCO on the head and thats good enough for me.

Peter Badel on NRL360 reckons the WTs are about to table a formal offer for 2.5 seasons for TPJ

His manager met with Donahue today maybe a deal is already done

Who's Donahue?

Broncos CEO

How reliable is Peter Badel when it comes to his sources?

Very

I thought I read on here the deal was already done….now we’re about to table an offer?

Dale Finucane would likely improve any team he joined for at least another year or so but he is already 30 and may well turn out like Blair when he came to us from the Storm a few years ago. Blair was terrific within the Storm system but looked like a fish out of water with us. TPJ is younger and whilst he has some attitude issues, he seems to offer a lot more to our still developing team.

I couldnt care less who we recruit....the hard work that Madge,Hartigan and co have done with the youth pathways and trying to build a winning squad only appeals to a few fans and members that understand what it takes to be a top NRL team consistently year in year out...the rest of the people only want everything yesterday irrespective of how hard it is to achieve a top level competative team mixed with youth and seasoned nrl players....

Melb and Panthers are the bench mark, when our squad can be as capable as those two teams then we maybe a top 8 contender consistently....just remember and look how long it has taken them to be where they are with great recruitment and stable coaching and admin...

we need to have a culture change and stop the axing of coaches everytime things dont suit the punters or our recruitment of players dont turnout the way we would hope....its a big business sport, money and success rule the roost....we will eventually get there but its hard work for the next couple of seasons....

Pangai may help us or he could hinder us...its a punt if it comes off well and good,if not back to the drawing board....like most years for us...hopefully we will eventually come up with the winning formula....

We lack top end talent. Class players who would make most other teams.

This one is a no brainer. TPJ will improve the squad and thats all that matters

My only problem with adding TPJ is that he'd be another player that has trouble distinguishing right from wrong.
We already have a few of those adding another may tip the balance too far to the dark side.

You make a good point TT, if we want to be a future top team then we can start by not sacking as many people in the playing group, particularly coaches. Storm have had the same head coach for 20 years, we like to sack them every 2 years. The one thing Storm are good at is extracting the best from each player, we need to back ourselves to be able to coach and bring in specialists where necessary. The way I see it, everyone knows what a winning formula is, but not everyone has the ability or the desire to pay the price of success by making the appropriate decisions and sacrifices. imo Pangai would be great for our team, but don’t sign him if you doubt your ability to coach him.

Typical sign a bloke that'll play 4 games for 250K..

5 games. I guess it will give us some time to get him used to our system. Get him in now. 4 weeks off to train with the side and learn how the players play will be ideal.
I hope we don’t give up on the Finucane chase though. I’ve recently watched both players closely and Finucane is in much better form and looks committed. TPJ is looking a little lack lustre at the moment. Need both in my opinion.

And how do we only have $250 left for the remainder of this year?

He’s already used to our system, he’s been playing with the Broncos ?

Or he could be a signing like Scott Sattler was in 2004 which Sheens himself has stated was one of the most influential signings for 2005, bringing in a winner from a winning culture.

Never trust a man under 70 years of age who wears cardigans.

Not sure why we would want TPJ for this season? He's got a few more weeks of suspension to serve and our season is shot. Waste of money for this year IMO.

Hey I wear cardigans!

Also been known to wear a cardigan from time to time and have done so much to the amusement of mates since my early 20's (now late 30's lol).

Wow! I’m in my 60s and never owned or worn a cardigan. My kids have been wanting to buy me a parachute jump or a ride in a V8 super car for my next birthday. There are some tings in life you just have to tick off the bucket list before you get to old. I’ve decided to ask them to buy me a cardigan!

You would hope a change of culture and that fact he is getting older will assist in making better decisions.
If he was to get his head right and switch on he is a SOO and Aust player every day of the week.

I do feel we hoped for the same with BJ. Hopefully it's a better outcome with TPJ but not confident.

Badel is on the money with the 2.5 year offer which will be submitted today to TPJ Manager, but currently at the Broncos they don't know their left from their right.
As seen with the whole Billy Walters saga the Broncos do more flips then Cirque Du Le !
TPJ will cost us a maximum of $150k for 2021 & if they take Walters in a trade the final amount will be used to upgrade a lower grade player to the top 30 with Kiah Cooper, Pauga & Tuilagi the likely.

In relation to Finucane to say those in the club are divided is an understatement. Those who want him is purely for influence/culture on & off the field. The other side wary of long term deal biting us in the rear like Packer.
Club discussed a 2 year deal but Finucane's management won't entertain that at all unless there's a 3rd year option in his favour.
It will cost a minimum of $650-$675k per year for him to join us, I don't think we are his number 2 choice let alone number 1.

Thanks Mate,
Do you think the deal will go ahead for TPJ or should we be concerned about the Dogs coming in late

Unless Dogs are stupid enough to pay more/extra for this year considering he's suspended for the next 3 weeks then I'd say it's evenly matched, but as far as I'm aware we are the only club that has a concrete offer in front of him.
