Tevita Pangai Junior

$700k for TPJ would be a mistake for us so I won't be upset if we don't sign him, too risky for us. Another club might be able to take that gamble but we shouldn't

"Alex Twal doesn't bend the line" might be the dumbest take on this forum. Have you watched him play? He's always pumping his legs pushing through, rarely gets put on his back and he's TENTH in the NRL for post contact metres and has the most run metres out of any forward at the club. He's a good player, his issue is his lack of creativity.

Another reason why we shouldn’t take media commentary seriously 😂

“Badel added: “I don’t believe Tevita won’t be at the Broncos next season. The Broncos are happy to honour his deal. But I know his manager is looking around the NRL and I wouldn’t be surprised if Tevita doesn’t move on. I still believe he won’t be at the Broncos next season.” 🤔

TPJ’s management have been informed we are no longer in the mix. Door firmly closed.

What made them change their mind, just price? Who will tigers be targeting then? Finucane, someone else? Still plenty of cap left for next season I'm assuming

Another lesson in not getting my hopes up.
Onto the next one.

Once again managers messing things up 😑😑😑

Good call tho hartigan, 700k is is skating on very very thin ice

Glad we’ve come to our senses.

He’s not the player to change our fortunes. We need effort players, winners, and quality young players looking for an opportunity.

I'm a bit torn. Don't think he was worth 700k to anyone based on his achievements or lack there of at the moment, but he can play and there is such a short fall of talent available. He has got plenty of growing up to do but so did Latrell when the Roosters moved him on.

I watch him every week. He never wins the collision in attack or defence. He’s a hard worker but a plodder

Wonder if this means they'll chase Finucane

Hopefully.
Good outcome. Just a shame they couldn’t do their homework before it went to the media.

Yeah, what on earth. Sounds to me like he's told them he's going to sign with someone else and they're getting out ahead of it.

Apparently we we’re officially offering him a deal yesterday. News today is we are bulking at the request to pay 700k a season not discounting what the Broncos want to throw in.
I’d say Tevita and management have rejected our initial offer and we are having a big rethink about it.

Not far off, offer was submitted, his management says we fall short of what TPJ has been “provisionally” offered elsewhere, so not officially offered.
Only club to have an offical offer written up, TPJ management saying we need to come to an agreement that averages $700k or more with Broncos chipping in to get it over the line, Hartigan said thanks but no thanks (playing hardball maybe) but seems the door is closed & club letting little leaks out to fain interest.

Give that money to finucane and Packers money to the cheese

Are we even a choice of Finucane? He's not worth what he is asking and we already have a leader in Tamou.

We haven’t made any big signings for next year and there’s not much available. Hard to imagine next year being any better than this year. The future is not looking bright.

Yes, Finucane AND Smith would be excellent recruitment, Finucane alone…not so so much. Don’t expect either to come though, let alone both - Dogs have more chance.

I get what Hartigan is trying to achieve, but we're not the Roosters and he's negotiating like we are.

700k is a gamble, but I'd take this gamble over the one we took on Packer, Reynolds and Mbye.

We need strike power. TPJ is a game changer on his own. We can grow our own leaders and culture off the back of it.

Disappointed.

You would hope this means we have something else going on in the background.

How many games has he changed for the Broncos this year?

Would have liked him here, but it seems that if his team informally agreed, and then backtracked when a formal offer was submitted then he is obviously not fussed where he ends up as long as he gets the most money. It would be funny if they were calling our bluff and now he has to take a haircut.
