I just had a look at a dogs fan twitter page and they seem to think that giving TPJ $800k a year will leave them enough in the cap to go hard for a hooker and a half.
Seriously can someone please explain how this can be true?
How is it that some clubs have an endless amount in their cap? Cause thats what it seems like.

Your assuming Dogs supporters can count……

Most of the team is off contract.
Probably unlikely to resign them.

They're going to have Cotric, JaC, Burton, TPJ on big money.
Still be paying for DWZ and no money to address their real problems.
Naden isn't coming for free.
Allan was a QLD rep when he signed.

It's very reckless spending on their behalf.

They haven't had a #9 since Lichaa left them.

I agree with your first 7 points but i had to laugh at the 8th one.

I was gonna say Ennis but I believe Lichaa was their last legit hooker to play hooker...

Everyone since has been some random nobody or utility playing 9... pretty poor on their behalf.

The dogs can look forward to the most judiciary appearances in 2022. TPJ and Hetherington alone make up a season of suspensions...

They can also look forward to a significantly improved roster though. If you were a Dogs fan you’d be looking forward to next year. Us not so much.

Bulldogs are so bad they can only look forward. Tigers have the same # wins in 2021 as Bulldogs have in 2020 and 2021 combined.

Dogs will finish behind us

This year most likely, next year not likely

They won't make finals though. 3 good players doesn't fix the rest of the bums and their awful coach

They need a halfback, a fullback and a hooker if they want to compete. Solid forward pack but they're a bit boneheaded

But they’ll still be closer than us and will show signs of improvement, couple that with big money and players will want to go there

Naden went there for less money, the only person that can attract players at the Tigers appears to be Lambkin. The Tigers need to look after him ,maybe a position as an assistant before he is scooped up by another club.

Don't think we offered him 400k+. Dogs are paying him overs, Allan on 500k, Thompson on 800k etc

They can't have a firesale. No one wants any of their players. They've spent nearly all their Cap on a handful of players and have 20+ players on peanuts. And a crap coach

Everyone knows the issue was money. He thinks he can get more elsewhere, remains to be seen.

For a club official to contact journalists at 10pm on a thursday night to float a fake narrative that it was about a background check is ludicrous and this official needs to be identified and removed from the organisation. Whether it's a board member, background staff or even Pascoe, it's amateur, unnecessary and unprofessional.

Who actually cares? Doesn't affect the outcome one bit.

Who cares about professionalism?

To be fair at present we’re not THAT much better. As it stands now would our team for 2022 beat theirs? I’m not so sure.

Last time they did we ended up with MBYE on marquee money for 4 years.

JAC = topliner = Dogs
Burton = topliner = Dogs
TPJ = topliner = Dogs

Tamou = cheaper option / washed up= us.
Maumolo = cheaper option / good, but lacks speed or class = us
SuA = cheaper option, solid, but lots of flaws = maybe us

Well, if we want to stay where we are and not add any X factor / elite players, we are doing it right...mediocrity.

Sometimes you need to roll the dice and for a few hundred grand more we might have landed all three.

If people think Hartigan and Madge have a plan, that is good.

But it is going to be a very, very slow one at this rate.

Panthers are the exact model to follow. There are major similarities between leagues club funding, junior bases etc. Gould is the difference. They get players at 16-17 and make them stars. It’s the only way.

Yes but they also purchased some very good talent E.g. Api K, Capewell, Tamou (in his prime) etc... We need to purchase otherwise we are waiting about 5-7 years.

And another example of management failing.

Managements policy is to not pay overs on new signings, so I would expect the only signings to be made before next season will be young talent for the future or a couple of players not getting a run in first grade eg Su’a. Not being negative, that’s just the realistic picture.

Who knows the real truth.

But 700K + is way to much on an inconsistent forward.

Can we cancel LL contract and use that money to sign this guy?

LL is as lame as lame gets

Pretty much useless

Maybe he could join the media he can certainly talk the talk

But walk the walk?

Not a chance in hell

He's not an 80 minute player, but I did see that he is playing seriously strapped up around the knee. I would imagine that would be hampering his lateral movement.

He's got to get a rest during games.

Brandon Smith come down to Concord

He’s rise at 9 this year has been tremendous.

I still think he's a better 13, but he's be good anywhere in the forwards.

He would be our best 9 or 13.

Understand but that's a shame as you ask any ex-player and they all say how important it is to have experienced players there to guide the young ones along.. We put all this effort and money into young development and pass on the most important part with not putting leaders there to lead them.. What a waste of time and effort..
So when we keep losing games as no leadership is there they will sign elsewhere and we just go through the same process.
You go though most business and ask successful people how they started out and they will all say they leant the trade from experienced people.
Terrible business model IMO

I am not having a go at you at all either @avocadoontoast because what you said it what they are actually doing.
