Did we make an official statement?

The Club Didnt make an official statement saying we Made the Player and Offer and therefore shouldnt make and follow up.

This was all media reporting.

**I respect the way the Tigers stance on this matter however were gonna need to land a big fish soon...**

Would have lifted the team.

I think we did but he didn't want it. Given the desperation from fans to find that winning formula and all patience gone - can you blame players for steering clear that just want to play footy and get paid.

Good to see we have rejected Pangai. Just like we rejected Mitchell & JAC when they would not roll over and agree to what the tigers had offered.

It is the fish that wests reject that make them the (12th to 16th) best.

We are a basket case, our signing will again consist of who other clubs need to get rid of after signing the top available talent.

Disagree, we had the money for all 3 players you mentioned, the fact they didn't want our offer is on them.

Money is nearly always the issue, except for perhaps LM, we offered the money ($1m) and the position (FB) that he wanted, but he wanted to go to Souths, there is nothing you can do.

Maybe a mammal ,reptile , marsupial or bird perhaps

Kinda reminds me .. a friend had been trying to sell his house for a while, had gone through 2 agents. One day, I happened to mention his place was available to a possible buyer and introduced them. Some weeks later, I asked how talks were going, he replied the offer was 15% below his asking price so he told the buyer to bugger off 😂
Said he was insulted.
Ironically he sold the house 6 months later for a similar price.

Bulldogs have offered 750k a season to TPJ. TPJ is said to prefer the Tigers or Dragons over the dogs and informed his manager to ask both clubs to get closer to the dogs offer. During informal discussions a figure of 600k a season was all but agreed, which is why the club has walked away.

This is a bizarre one by the dogs, considering the money they have tied up in some of their other recruits. JAC is signed on for 600k a season rising to 750k if he plays a certain amount of games at fullback, Naden and Allan on 400k+ and Cotric on 500k. Not to mention they're paying 350k of DWZ contract for next season.

They seem to be getting themselves in a bit of mess with the cap going forward. Heard there is a bit of discord over there as not everyone in the recruiting process has been informed of agreements and dont see eye to eye on targets (TPJ & Johnson). Some seem to be of the view to get any talent over there for any price where a others want to target certain positions and be diligent in how they organise their cap for future years and build the team.

Signing TPJ would all but end their hopes of signing B. Smith. They also have a tricky situation where Burton will be available to negotiate from November 2022 and would be due a hefty pay rise.

Yes they got Burton at a bargain rate, I wondered if their was a trigger clause or an out, looks like he has both going on what you are saying

It remains to be seen whether Burton is a bargain at the ~$500,000 a season they reportedly signed him on. He's been pretty sporadic in his performances in the halves.

I think this weekend will be the 1st time you can judge Burton truly and honestly

He looked pretty handy last game when Cleary wasn't there

The only two losses Penrith had all year Burton was playing halves.

Cleary and Luai missed both those games, he played in the halves with May, who is very ordinary, kicked the winning field goal last night too.

I was reading somewhere that tpj doesn't want to go to the dogs. I still think will sign him as there's not so much media about it now and gone quiet. There is also a TPA for him from Lee that he gets free solicitor fees.

Long time to go before next year. If no one matches his price he will have no choice but to lower it or go to a club he doesn't want to go to

Paying overs for players is not and never has been good policy but it it is what we have repeatedly done in the past for zero results.Buying TPJ or Finucane at inflated prices will do nothing to change that.Caveat Emptor

Souths did this with Asotasi, it changed the whole perception of the club, and lead to other high profile players joining.
Problem is, we do it with the wrong players, if we had landed Latrell or JAC, others would follow.
Packer, Reynolds and Mbye won't and haven't attracted other players

In that case though.
Asotasi would be like Signing Payne Hass or Nelson Asofa Solomona. Whom I’d happily give overs for.
TPJ is more like signing Willy Mason back then.

Solomon hormoneo

He took off with the pleasure machine ?

Haha…the pleasure machine. So funny. Imagine trying to give a girl that public moniker these days.

I wonder how the hell that even came about.

When you get a little older you will work that out

I’m 40. I understand why.

I’m saying it’s weird how it made it’s way into the public vernacular where that just became her name.

Barely anyone even knew her actual name.

Gabrielle Hitchens, she was an "exotic dancer" (a stripper) and the Pleasure Machine was her stage name.

Going on past experience, I would say you are bang on

According to some on here we didn't miss Signing him as we "pulled out" fact is another player who did not want to come here.
I am glad we missed him at the price

"TPJ is said to prefer the Tigers or Dragons over the dogs", if this in fact true, then we didn't miss him, he just wanted more than we wanted to pay? If you look at the dogs, they will be in serious trouble if they don't fire from the get go?

we did miss him we made an offer he didn't take it he went elsewhere that is missing the purchase
Latrell
JAC
this happens to Tigers all the time
they better land Funucane and or Brandon Smith

No we didn't miss him, we made an offer, he wanted more, we moved on without further negotiation.

Are they after Finucane or Smith?

It’s all paper dribble until it’s official.. we might be fighting fire with fire - also known as doing a Bar

IMO Tigers have pulled out of negotiations because TPJ management have raised the $$$ to high and then leaked to media that they are clearly out so that TPJ management cant use Tigers as a wedge in future negotiations. Its a signal to Bulldogs and Dragons

It will take more than one good player to bring success - and players know that better than anyone.
We need more than one - which is what the Bulldogs seem hellbent on doing - however the pressure that puts on their cap if it doesn't work will set them backwards again.
From the outside looking in I'm not sure many players would be brave enough to take this on - when they don't need to.
We have to build from within like Penrith and then hopefully they will come when they can see some quality to play beside.

Ding ding ding

I know everyone says that your not going to change a team with 1 player but tell me 1 team that has bought 17 players in the off season. We have been saying that with every player we miss. When you build a foundation of a few good players it rubs off on the others. Katoni stages said he won't sign until he knows who the half back will be.
