Thankyou Tim Sheens

I also would like to express my admiration for the work done by Tim Sheens in previous years. The merger was a joke and was looking like failing massively until Tim came along and changed almost every process involved with the venture.

Tim brought a professionalism to the club that resulted in a premiership that no one saw coming so quickly. He has brought many players through to grade that have given us a lot of joy over the years and hopefully into the future.

Whilst I am 100% sure that his departure is the best thing for the club as players and game plans have become stale and outdated, I wish him no ill will and hope the future is kind to him. He can always rest assured that he created history with a group of young larakins and as such I hope he continues to feel apart of the 'brothers for life'

I now look forward as I suspect the playing group does as well to a change in direction and the further evolution of this club.
 
Yeah thx Tim, especially 05\. You proved to be stubborn till the end, but you will remembered as a true Wests legend. Wish you all the best in the future, I know success is just around the corner for you. But your time with us was well and truly up. Good luck.

job well done timbo and have many good memories from ur stint (even if it was a touch to long), my fav memory of all was after the 2005 GF and benny elias was blind drunk asking did you want to be a tiger for life, he didn't seem to impressed at the time
 
Thanks Tim for the 2005 premiership; the stability you gave the duringTigers 2003-2011 and for the personal phone call you gave me in 2005 just before the GF in 2005\. It was a difficult time in my life 2005 and the Tigers winning the GF and your call really helped me and my sons get through the other side!..I will always appreciate it!…Good luck for the future...the time was right for a change... :sign:
 
Fantastic post. The legacy that Tim Sheens leaves is nothing short of excellent. He came to a club that really wasn't functioning. The Lamb Era was one of the worst I've experienced, not so much in results on the field (which were poor) but in the general lack of discipline, professionalism & direction given to the club.

Want to talk about the 'Boys Club'? That was what Lamb & co had built.

Sheens came in (wasn't my #1 choice, but I've been proven wrong, once again) & brought with him a plan. Not a plan for 1 year- a plan to build a football club. He developed some outstanding Junior development programs, tapped some excellent resources to bring in quality that Wests Tigers used to dream of having. He got rid of the bad influences, even at the expense of having his team struggle early.

He brought in professionalism. Through his own actions, and that of senior players brought into the club, like Brett Hodgson, Scott Sattler & Scott Prince.

He brought direction, by developing talent not for 1 year, but for future generations. Only now do we see some of his 'second crop' coming through. He didn't condemn his excellent young players too early. He nurtured, developed. Think what you like of his junior development, but Marshall, Farah, Fulton, Gibbs, Heighington, Lawrence, Ayshford, Ryan, Dwyer, Tedesco, Moltzen, Lui & to a degree Galloway (even though the Sharks really developed him to a point) have been the past backbone, and go on to be the future for many.

He brought belief. 10 years ago, many of us dreamt of making the finals. Now we, and the players, expect to challenge for the GF. Every year. Do you remember wishing we were not contenders for the Wooden Spoon? It wasn't that long ago. It was pre-Sheens.

The man has simply been the absolutely greatest purchase the club has ever made- even with some of his questionable decisions over the years.

It looks like his time has come to an end for this club. I only wish that the club would give him a proper farewell.

Tim Sheens converted me. I used to hate him. Now I think he might be on par with the greatest football minds of the last 30 years. What he did here in 10 years, results on the field aside to a degree, have been nothing short of outstanding.
 
yeah, I agree with the sentiments expressed in this post. His ability to reinvent himself has enabled the club to benefit from his incredible knowledge of the game. Like all coaches at this level, he had his degree of arrogance and stubborness and I think this is ultimately what has brought us to this juncture. It's a shame he didn't take the Penrith job when it was offered, but as they say, hindsight is always perfect!
Good luck Sheensey in whatever you do in the future. The joint is definitely better for having had you here.

Good post mate. 2005 was the greatest footballing moment of my life. To see something i never thought i would see, not just the GF either, but the run we took to get there .There were plenty of decisions over the years that i definately didn't agree with at the time and still don't. One thing that always made me feel confident with him on board though, until this year right against the Roosters right at the end, is if we weren't in great form but needed a big performance against one of the top sides, his game plans were pretty good. Even against the dirty Dogs a few weeks back , he was extremely unlucky.
I'm glad to see fellow supporters acknowledging a man who i think has done a pretty good job under some difficult circumstances over the years. It can't have been easy trying to mould the club into one with all the factions.No matter what side of the JV you come from, the proof is in the pudding with our lower grades success this year. Even the biggest critics would have to acknowledge Sheens has played a big part in that.
I've always thought being the first grade coach involves more than just the first grade results. The mark of a great head coach is if he leaves the club in a better position then when he joined it, and apart from some turmoil here at the end, there is no doubt Wests are in a much better position than we were in the beginning.

P.S If he was to take the Warriors gig, i think they would definately be worth putting a couple of bucks on as premiers 2013
 
He has had a lot of positive influence in his time here.

basically & personally for me….he changed my team and my expectations of my team from one where most w/ends with the game approaching, there was little to no hope....to one where success was almost expected regulalry

Stayed too long, but longevity is his middle name

He needs a change, so does the club. No ones perfect
 
Good evening Tim, if your are reading this, I actually haven't read any of the previous posts but all I can ad is I'm extremely greatful for the years you provided us with a competitive side, no matter where you go you will always be in our hearts, thank you for more good seasons than bad.

Sheens did a great job overall. Even the bad seasons were only a game or two outside the 8\. He lost 2 halfbacks in Prince and Lui that guided us to the Top 4 in circumstances he could not control. However his own selection howlers (not replacing halfbacks) and boys club he created eventually created his own downfall and lack of accountable performances. WT are a very popular and stable Sydney club these days, they were a total rabble when he took over. However his work was done, and this year was just too shocking for words, we were as stale and as soft as a side I can remember. It was an easy call to make, he deserved to be sacked.

Thank you for everything Sheens, you did a great job in establishing this club and winning our 1st premiership. Now we need a coach to take us to the next level, and make no mistake the time for that change is now.
 
It's good to see so many grateful folk, but what are the odds sheens would even read any of this?

Why the grovelling now?
Let's be honest.
We won the comp in '05 despite him - same with our appearances in the finals the two years prior to this.
Any other coach would have had better results over 10 years with the cattle at hand - he has wasted what should have been a golden era by poor use of their talent.
Culture schmulture!
The only thing a coach gets judged on is results.
Winning brings money , more supporters and better players wanting to be part of the team- and therefore continued success.
Let's hope it's not too late for the new coach to squeeze another ounce out of the mine and start another goldrush.
 
No it wasn't despite him, it most certainly was because of him. When a nuffy side like the 05 WT wins the premiership you KNOW it's because the coach outcoached the rest of the coaches. There wasn't a season it was more obvious that it was a coach led team until 2012 Doggies.
 
Sheens built that 05 side. How it can be said they won 'despite him' is ludicrous.
 
Tim Sheens must be allowed to leave with dignity. I also believe it's time for change, but let us also remember the great deeds that the 'Super Coach' achieved. He brought this club together from his appointment in '03 - and within three exciting years he does the impossible. Glad to see the many positive comments being written about Tim today.
Best wishes Tim for the future. I was at the 1963 GF as a kid. Beaten by St. George.I never got to taste victory until 2005 with a magnificent win. Thanks for the memories.

It is showing appreciation for the good work done over the years.
It is saying farewell to a bloke who has worked hard for our club for 10 years.
It is showing a bit of class.

I had major problems with Tims coaching style and results, but this thread is about acknowledging the good work he has done for us.

If you want to whine, there are 500 other anti Sheens threads you can contribute to.
