That was Jacob Miller's 5th Game in 1st Grade

And Jack Wighton played his 3rd game and looked like it was his 50th.
Miller went better than last time but doesn't look anything special and Humble did OK as well.
Moltzen looks like he doesn't want to be there.

I enjoyed watching us with a real halfback out tonight. A shame our forwards were so limp he never got a chance to strut his tough. He is a tough little mongrel and went hard.

Put it this way - he hasn't looked good once. He didn't look terrible but he hasn't looked good.

Are you serious?? Geez we get battered in the forwards and have the ball in the opposition 20 twice in 70 mins and the fans blame the halfback. Thatll do me. We deserve this team with fans like this.

I thought we looked more organised with the ball in the first half (those 3 or 4 times we had the ball!). His defence was excellent. He pulled down a few of their Raiders big blokes in one on one tackles. He did more than enough to keep the job for next week.

I agree. Thought I must have been watching a different game to other people for moment. I thought we looked good in attack in the first 15mins. It was only when our forwards couldnt match the raiders for speed and power that we fell apart.

Miller done what I expected him to do. He had a go. The forwards set no platform for him to work on, he was cramped for room all night. You have to take into account that he's still learning and has entered a team thats not travelling well. Im happy for him to remain at halfback.

I can think of 15 others who Id be whinging about before having a go at this kid. At least he looked like a halfback in that first half. Moltz has played nearly 70 games and his season to date has been terrible, St George got lucky.

ST try reading what Hellman said. What he said is the honest truth. Miller hasnt done anything wrong but hasnt looked good. It wasnt blaming him, but unlike alot of fans on here who are the opposite and would say "miller was great", hellman is just saying it how it is. Like most of our players on a usual basis, they arent bad but there not good.

Milford I did read what he said. My point remains how do you judge a 7 when he is playing behind a pack that would struggle to get over the top of my dead grandma. In the circumstances tonight I thought Miller looked good. Tackled well, took the line on, directed the ball for his forwards and showed desperation to score a try that should have inspired the side to go on with it.

What more could he have done tonight which would have made it a good performance?

I would give him the rest of the year to prove himself.

That was Miller's first real game. First.

He was excellent in the first half.

Not sighted in the second, but our pack was bent over and horse whipped all night.

Looks an excellent prospect.

Im not a fan.

Ok so hes played five games. Now I dont expect him to be busting the line, putting people through gaps and setting up tries.

But I do expect our 7 to go in and get the ball and have forwards running off him. I do expect him too look for opportunities to shift the ball and look for gaps. I do expect him to keep a head up for open space where he can kick the ball down field. Unfortunately ive seen nothing of him in any of his games. He put one hit on last year and a few people went nuts about him.

As I said, I dont expect him to be influencing the game heavily, but he has a role to do which he isnt doing. Otherwise hes just a small guy who teams are looking at when there attacking us.

It seems you do not have a clue how a halfback operates,he can not do all of the above when his forward pack is being owned by the opposition . no halfback can.

leave Miller at 1/2 for the rest off the season..it's time to sink or swim for this position if he fails get the chq book out and buy one for 2013.

I agree.
the halves, need stability. how are good combos going to happen if you keep chopping and changing. i know sometimes injury/suspension may force your hand, otherwise don't change it :unamused:

I reckon Miller was the only positive to take away from this game. He did some really good things in a well beaten pack. And he handled the pressure pretty well. Stick with him for the rest of the year, it can't get much worse.

Also Reddy did some good things out there. Should become a very good buy, me thinks!

I am at sea atm and could only listen to the game via radio. Im not a fan of Miller. I actually can't believe Sheens broke this early. He should have stuck with Moltzen at half back and left Humble at the back. In saying this I don't care who plays half atm, they will struggle behind our forward pack. As I said, I didn't see the game but I've seen enough of Miller in the Toyota Cup that tells me he's not the man for our job. Hurry back Keithy!
