"Thats totally false"

While theres been a lot of bending the truth, and twisting tales - many little fibbies in this whole saga, below for me personally is the most disappointing.

@Robbie Farah after Dagons game when Tallis' claim was put to Farah said:

Not quite true, was it?
It wasnt **totally** false.
Robbie isnt blamless in all this.
As many have said in the 11 or 12 days prior, this could all have been so easily avoided.

Just watched the interview, with recollections of similar statements in mind. Whilst I am glad $20k is going to Simon, it would have been much better if he addressed things more than a week ago.

Yep I truly hope Robbie has learned a lesson from this. If you ALWAYS tell the truth then you have nothing to hide. Sooner or later the truth always comes out.

Thats the interesting bit in all this isn't it - the only ones who we know to be lying are Robbie and the Board.

Gordy was honest and straight forward and didn't hide anything, CEO Mayer has been above board or at least has kept quiet which others could learn from but Robbie has been caught out lying no matter the stage managed performance last night

For the sake of the club I hope this is the end of it now and everyone moves on and no one gets sacked

It was a comment he made 15 months ago. Was it true then, most likely yes.
Was it a true reflection of his feelings about Potter when Tallis regurgitated it? No I don't think so.

He could have said that at the time and saved all the trouble. One fib has exploded into this quagmire.

So he said it to some bloke (Tallis) who he really couldn't have a close relationship with in reality. Makes you wonder who else he spoke to at the time or later about it. Now that would have been a good question "Robbie, who else did you share your negative opinions of the coach with last year?"

NO, the real issue here is not if he lied or not. It's all of u crap supporters who turn on their captain of their team at the drop of a hat. All these previous post are from totally pathetic supporters, yes YOU!!
As he stated he bleeds and gives everything for this club, more than any of u have done, u are PATHETIC!
As many smarter people in the media than you lot have stated, who hasn't bagged their boss or who hasn't heard some one bag their boss?????
Happens every day….
The most that hurt farah was u supporters and your witch hunt, what a joke. U should be ashamed of yourselves.
Holding that scumbag Gordon Tallis up as some legend for telling the truth! Joke, he is a parasite, listen to the interview again the long bow he said in the fri show on radio that it had to be farah because he said this 15 months ago. Really, that's your proof. I hope w Bennett turns up dead because Gordon would be the one who did it on that rational!
I with robbie are most disappointed in the supporters!

Talk about bending the truth and false information.
How about this thread????

The accusation from Talls was that Robbie was undermining the coach in order to get him sacked.

That was completely false.

How about we get off our Robbie's back and turn our attention to the real culprits.

The board, payten and Mayer .

The plan from them was to punt the coach and appoint payten and to punt Robbie to free up salary cap space

LOL… Shame you didn't show the same sense of fairness of judgement toward the coach when he was being questioned and knifed through the club and media through the doing of others. On the contrary you were one of the first to stick in the boot.

The difference between he and Farah was that he maintained his composure, diffused the situation the best he could and didn't implicate anyone just to save his own skin. He showed the kind of leadership and hardened attitude that Farah should have shown.

Farah shouldn't have had to have gone on TFS last night, this I agree with. One sentence would have sufficed to admit that he said what he said and he no longer believes it to be the case. It would have been over there and then. The ensuing media circus has occurred because the air wasn't cleared when it should have been. This lays with him.

This whole ugly mess has made a couple of things crystal clear ..
1\. The most important issue facing the club is to get a professional, experienced and well qualified Board in place (I discussed this in another thread). This would never have been allowed to be played out in the press had this been the case. Very strict instructions would have been given to the CEO to manage this nonsense 'in house'.
2\. Mayer is well out of his depth. He should never have put himself in the position where he could be accused of 'plotting' the downfall of the coach, or undermining the integrity of the captain of the football side. Even if he hasn't had a deliberate hand in either of these occurrences, the fact that we are talking about it is sufficient reason to find him incompetent to run this football club.

This shambles should have and would have been nipped in the bud with a functional Board and a CEO with more experience and better credentials.

I am praying that the NRL can find 3 people with the expertise to put in place the business and management plans, policy and procedure, that will guide our current CEO so that this type of occurrence never visits this club again. Hopefully Mayer can 'grow' into the job. If not, he has to go.

Could you please post the dates and times of the classes you are running to assist us in being a better supporter?

With regard to the question you pose - when Robbie replied “That’s totally false” I assumed at the time of the press conference that he was disputing Tallis’ version of what was actually said at that meeting. In other words, he was disputing the precise words he used.

Apparently Tallis’ claim is that Robbie said “Potter can’t coach”.

There are other versions floating around in the press that he actually said something along the lines of “Potter’s struggling”.

There is world of difference between those two propositions.

If Farah’s recollection is that he said Potter’s struggling, then he can quite legitimately claim that Tallis’ allegation is totally false.

Before we start making judgments about who is lying we should bear in mind that these comments were made in passing 15 months ago. I think most people would struggle to recall the precise words they used in a conversation that long ago.

This brings me to boonboon 2’s comments on the subject of lying. He says above:

“….the only ones who we know to be lying are Robbie and the Board. Gordy was honest and straight forward and didn’t hide anything….”

I am compelled to ask you boonboon 2, how in the world can you possibly know that?

Don’t tell me – you were sharing a beer with Gordie and Robbie when the conversation took place and, what’s more, you recorded it so that you can share with us precisely what was said.

I would suggest that unless you have a recording of what was said, you are in no position to allege that Farah is lying. Common decency dictates that you should refrain from making such allegations.

the clubs handling of the affair is a bloody disgrace from the board to mayer and Robbie the only one to show his class is potter

100%… How impressive has Potter been in all this!

So Gordie basically accuses Farah of working behind the scenes to get rid of Potter, and when pushed and his integrity brought into question he breaks Farah's confidence from 15 months ago.

Are comments made 15 months ago relevant? He didn't indicate his info was 15 months old when initially accused Farah, he alluded that Farah was currently trying to get rid of the coach. That doesn't strike me as the actions of an honest man.
