The Awful Truth

Some of you will be writing that off as just a loss, but here is the awful truth.

We are a terrible football team, and we always have been.

My friends have always ribbed me that we were the worst team to ever win a competion in 05.

I always used to use the "you can only beat who they put in fron of you defence" but the truth is they were right. It was luck, timing and a brilliant coaching strategy that got us that premiership.

Dont get me wrong, sheens had to go - He had been here to long and was stale.

But we didn't underperform the last few years… the truth is he did amazingly well to make a very average bunch of footballers (with the exception of marshall and farah) look good.

we didn't underperform he had them playing out of there skins, and he simply, eventually ran out of tricks to make a bad team look good.

And now we are exposed, with potter in the deep end.... and judging from the complete lack of game plan out of his depth. Mick's about to find out that the step up from superleague is like stepping up from reserve's to firsts... some people just wont cut it.

Moltzen, Korobete, ayshford, Lawrence and utai have no business playing first grade. They would not hold a spot in any other team in the comp. Lawrence saddens me the most. He was my favorite player, but will never recover from the injury he suffered.

There is a good reason, that Miller never got a chance under sheens.... It wasn't any sort of bias, sheens was the one that identified him as a talent and bought him across.

The truth was sheens knew he didn't have it.

Marshall and farah, for all that they show flashes of brilliance are greedy selfish players that crack under pressure and continue to make incredibly poor decisions at crucial times. They just dont play smart football.

And to round it out we have a forward pack of never were and never will be's

It break's my heart honest to god.

But we are done..... and this year be are going to really fall apart.

And that' the awful truth.

TOTALLY AGREE. Anyone who dis-agrees is a dreamer

I sat watching tonites game, like every supporter we had hope, but after ten minutes I said to myself no no no drop balls miss tackles school boy stuff, harden up tigers get some team spirit, you are a laughing stock of the league, farah never played smart. Benji needs to run more don't kick on every third tackle utai to small, lets hope for more heart next week
:deadhorse:

I refuse to give Sheens credit.

He has put us in this mess roster wise.

We have lost Ellis, and lost a couple of out better first graders Heighto and Ryan. And Sheens signings like Reddy, Anasta, Blair on big coin.

Sheens will be thanking his lucky stars he was sacked. Potter has to try and pick up a huge mess!

Well said Eddie.

This is the roster that sheens built, his last farewell gift if you like.
This season is all about blokes proving to Potter that they belong. Many have started poorly.

I agree totally except with the Farah and Benji call, because I think we won't improve as a team until these two have left this club. They are supposed to be our best players but our overall game will not go anywhere while they are wearing our colours.
That's sad but true

i hate to say it but ur right, this bunch of players has no heart and no idea, god help potter if this does not drive him to drink nothing will. And the nsw cup side got killed as well, maybe he can get some girls from netball who might have a go.
just goes to show much bullsh== is said during the off season how fit we are and how we worked on our defence what a load of crap, we were the worst side to play all weekend, OH bring back the cricket.

Very reactionary IMHO. We had two "get close" years in 2010 and 2011\. If you think we would be better without Farah you are dreaming…...we would be a hopeless rabble.

The awful is truth is that our window for another premiership was in 10-11, we really needed to make those chances count. We should have won it one of those yrs if it wasn't for a couple of moments that could only ever happen to us

Maybe West Tigers should play cricket instead of football. They generated a lot of spin in the off season.

You've hit the nail GNR4LIFE. IMO our window was 2011-12\. Now we're at a stage where we are that close to a rebuilding phase. I can understand the likes of Utai and Tuqiri, even Anasta being on our books now, but I really feel our focus isn't really on winning a title in 2013\. My focus would be on bringing through the youth. In two years time, our starting 13 should definitely include the likes of Koroibete, Nofoaluma, Tedesco, Sironen, Brooks, Woods, BMM and Buchanan. Throw them in with a mix of Lawrence, Marshall and Farah and there's real potential. What happens between now and then should be a gradual regeneration of the squad.

Oh dear some people have taken that loss to heart.

Sucks to lose so poorly but meh one game does not define a season nor a whole club. Potter has plenty to work with in the lower grades. If we continue to put in dreadful showings like that then at least he has a lot of talented juniors to blood moving forward.

At least he saw first hand all the deficiencies of these players and can now see the Sheenstructed side for what it really is.

B+.

Not trying to pick on you, that is an absurd analysis of tonights game. We didnt lose the game, we gave it away . Amateur ball handelling errors and diabolical kicking gave the Knights field position that was all but impossible to stop. You can never hope to win any type of grind giving that sort of possession and field position to any team. Our forwards were just about the only shining light in that game for us, they didnt win the battle, but they dug in deep and worked hard and didnt fold like the house of cards they were surrounded by.
