The Badger is now a Tiger

Remains to be seen how it pans out. Lets hope the Badge is still in good with the current crop of refs or his affiliation with us might have the reverse effect.

So we shouldn't try anything to improve our game?

He doesn't have to be in good with anyone, he just has to know the rules and how we should be using them, which I think he would.

I think we should always be looking at ways to improve. It may work and it may not.

Problem is the minute a ref retires ...they aren't on the inside seeing how refs are interpreting rules and going to apply them in the future .....

Maybe, but I don't think he instantly loses all his contacts inside either?

Agree, he may have fallen out of favour with the hierarchy but you would think he would still have his contacts, plus as far as I know his Mrs is still at the very least running the side line, so you would imagine that she would have to be in the know about the latest in refereeing interpretations.

The problem is that a lot of the referees seem to make the interpratation according to what jumper you are wearing,Sutton Cummins in particular. Not many seem to treat all clubs equally like Chechin does

Badge is still coaching junior refs so he would be up to peed on and rule changes or interpretations.

Can you imagine the uproar if Refs were giving some clubs help ups and others not

I watched The Fan today on foxtel and Vossy interviewed Gavin Badger.

Hard working, genuinely nice guy, didn't realise that he grew up without his dad and discovered his roots at 14yo.

I couldn't help really admiring the guy.

Well done Badge.

Another guy , who having around the club is only a good thing . Smart guy outside of footy , means he can be used in different roles within the company , with indigenous pathways , and other aspects in the club . As well as the obvious refereeing stuff . Especially how relatable he is , with his upbringing , and how unfortunately , a lot of kids coming through , both indigenous and not , are / have experienced similar . It’s pretty brave to be so open about it .

Should have recruited him and a few of his mates and got them on board while they were still refereeing.

It was a good interview, and he said he didn't retire, they told him he wasn't going to be in first grade

He seems to be very heavily involved, even on gamedays.
