The best player you've ever seen

In Jest I always say that Ian "Chook" Herron was the best ever….

Real Life - Best Tiger I saw with my eyes (Not just TV archives etc) is Paul Sironen, Best player ever is Andrew Johns

Probably Benji for mine. When he was on no-one could touch him. I'll never forget the try he scored against cronulla in 05 when he had something like 14 missed tackles on him in the one run. Not many people could make David Peachey look like a fool but he just stood there with his mouth open wondering what the hell just happened!

As for Johns, he is one of the biggest, most up himself, arrogant wankers I've ever met. John Williamson is the only one worse that I can think of.

Difficult to signal one out, but I always remember saying to myself when Gary Schofield played for the tigers in 1985, he was something very special. So I will go for him to be different.

He was great in his short stint with Wests as well, I wished he'd stayed a little longer. Very underrated in discussions about who was the best Pom to play in Australia.

Looking at some of the arguments on here about who is eligible and not made me want to remind people of when fatty vautin came out to the media after his retirement and admitted that the Queensland origin teams of the 80's and early 90's used to take drugs before the games given to them by team management/trainers. When asked what type of drugs he said "no idea, but they never worked anyway". Loll
Wally was a freak for Qld and Australia but didn't do much at club level.
At his peak, my best I've seen was Bradley Clyde. This guy was a machine. I can recall sterlo in his commentary saying if he keeps playing the way he does, he will burn out . And he did
When they were in their zone , I loved watching Phil blake and cliffy Lyons . Both never really excelled in rep footy though.
Arguments aside Andrew johns excelled at every level of the game.

He was a great entertainer of the game.

There have been many great players in my time of following rugby league, each and every player had their own unique way of playing which made them standout from the rest…they were game winners and hard players of the game..I could name heaps, however, for the benefit of this thread I will cast back to the eighties and name Raymond Price as my player because of his toughness during his tackles and always following the ball...he was an exceptional lock...

I was and always will be a Tigers supporter, however Ray deserves a mention in my opinion....

I loved Cliffy as a player, I had a bit to do with him at one point, he gave me some awesome tips, alot of stuff that looks off the cuff and instinctive is well planed.

In the mid 90's where Manly were magic and should have won more comps, it was terrific watching Menzies, Gartner and Innes hitting holes of CLiffy and tearing sides up.

Snapper,I will give you a bit of old history if you like, back in the early 80s I played in group nine with Turvey Park, where the Mortimer boys played before going to Canterbury…Gundagai who Lyons played with was also in the same group as us...Cliff Lyons was deadset the rising star of group nine and a very, very good footballer,I had the pleasure of being run over by him a couple of times..had many a beer with him at the old Criterion Hotel after matches...he really earned his footballing stripes as he proved over the years...
