The Big Picture

I think something is wrong when you take 900K off the table for Moses and then a few days later the CEO comes out and says your looking at Johnson he will be 900K plus easy on the new cap with his TPA'S over a million so the question is does the coach wants more experience in the halfs and to blow Moses off users the cap as the reason which is fine he had 5 months to sign
Or just wants a cheap half to go with Brooks and money spent elsewhere

Johnson is a proven performer at international class . Moses wouldn't tie his bootlaces .

So they have 900K for Johnson but not Moses ?

Moses. Isn't close to a 900 k player …and unless his defence improves very quickly ,he will never get that kind of coin ...

As much as I like Johnson, he can go pretty quiet for periods in a season. Might just be the fact that he's a warrior though. That club must be almost as hard to follow as ours. Re-building might be hard to swallow for some as we all have an attachment to certain players. But loyalty to these guys has taken this club nowhere to date. What I'd give to be a Canberra fan now. Ricky Stuart has done an incredible job with his big picture.

Harder. Look at their roster. Least with us we can argue we've got a lot of deadwood. Their culture is rotten. Can't believe they still haven't gotten the hint that they need a marquee coach. If they had Bellamy or Bennett they'd be winning premierships.

I would love to keep the Noff next year. It looks like he's already bought into Cleary's message.

Nova started making these comments as soon as the Moses brother erupted and Teddy and Woods refused to commit. It seems to me he was making a pretty obvious point to the other players. The rest of the squad doesn't seem to think much of the behaviour of Teddy, Woods and Moses.

Comments by ET seem to suggest this as well.

I've always liked Ricky Stuart. He has copped it in spades from fans for many years… Very unfairly I thought.
His passion and genuine concern for his team's is evident... He knows what he's doing

You have to admit it has taken him a long time to get it right Ink

About 13 years of coaching

I remember a few years back when it was rumoured that he was to coach the Tigers, thought it would be a disaster for us, in hindsight we probably would have been much better off if we signed up Stuart.

Really have to give him credit for what he has achieved at the Raiders.

Not a big fan of Ricky Stuart, but he's done a great job assembling that raiders team. The raiders are also a good example of how you can build an awesome team when you don't have to pay a couple of "superstars" ridiculous money

Hey I'm the same about Ricky, but I hope we take a leaf out of their recruitment plan and look at the super league. Mainly in the forwards dept though. There are players that can do a job over here.

The big 4 is all in the mind. What is so big about the 4?
Tes: We have Josh Duggan, Ferguson, Moylan that are as good, if not better than Tes.
Woods: Graham and a few other props are equally as strong.
Moses: What has Moses done, that a few haven't done or did better? Johnson, Carney, Maloney, Reynolds.
Brooks: There is still a lot of improvement in him.
If these as a group stayed together and not get it into their brain or get carried away, they maybe able to achieve something in the future.
I hope these boys won't have their heads in the clouds but instead concentrate on their football here, they may be something yet. In the past, they get ahead of themselves, which was also a reason for the west Tigers downfall. We cannot blame everything on the coach, who was not on the field. For once, these boys must show us what they can do instead of wanting the money first but yet failed to perform to date.

We offered Moses the kitchen sink….he refused it. His fault.
No way should the club bow down to his wants. One decent game doesn't change much, once we have another loss it will be back to normal in regards to Mitch.

Silly boy. He had a $900K per season offer on the table till Cleary took over. All he had to do was sign while Webster was still in charge, which Brooks had the sense to. As soon as Cleary came in he advised the Tigers to withdraw the offer, and the best Moses could then do is an alleged $700K per season from the Eels.

So uncle Isaac's 'professional advice' cost mitch over half a mil over the next three years and forced him to change clubs. This guy may not be the genius he's made out to be.

He is worth his weight in gold that manager isn't he.

After recovering from the wholesale betrayal and greed I simply didn't expect,Im actually quite positive for the future and convinced we weren't chasing the character required for one club men in the first place.Am reserving my rights on Tedesco, but have seen enough of the others behaviour and here I am
Brooks-was never going to work with Moses at NRL level, and suspect he'll grow dramatically under Cleary who did a pretty decent job on his son…who doesn't have as much talent IMO.
Woods-has one foot out the door..maybe both.Very disappointed in his leadership on and off the field, and frankly a fit Matalino offers almost everything Woods offers(including size)...plus a bit of aggro..plus a lot more substance...at about half Woods price.Theres a reason why Bellamy doesn't pay top $$$ to props...Woods is perhaps the biggest disappointment of all.
Tedesco-hard act to follow no doubt.Personally I like Dugan, but failing that I think Nofu is ready for the number one jersey under the tutelage of one of the best, and may well be dynamite at no 1
Moses-only turns up for half a dozen games annually, and is a total speed hump in the others, and is instrumental in some of those big losses weve had plus the form volaitility. We have plenty of $$ to throw around, and if somehow we cld snare Foran .....and if not Widdup...both wld provide more consistency.Regardless, were better off without this self absorbed show pony, who will be looking for another new club in 2 yrs u can bet.Benji without the talent....
And after all that,we still have $$ to spend..lots of it...and maybe get a team that's got some pride & commitment to the club and each other, and move forward
Yep,disappointing that the guys weve invested in for a decade to lead this club for another decade haven't shown a shred of loyalty or in some cases decency,but...

Well there is the possibility that Moses, Tedesco and Woods all leave and we don't sign anyone that we make offers to. We will then be in the same boat as Newcastle - plenty of money to spend but no-one willing to take it.

The only positive is that the cap may not be as high as some teams hope it is and have to let players go. A battle between Knights and us looms!!!!!!!

A race to the bottom with the Knights…..
Actually,I think both Knights and Raiders are handicapped by their location to an extent..gotta move house/family/schools etc...whereas were geographically Ok.
A little tainted maybe...but enough talent reagradless to avoid the spoon and juniors constantly coming thru,so if worst happens were...wait for it..in a "re-building phase"
THIS shld have been the year where we became contenders after years of rebuilding, only to be derailed by Judas Moses who wanted to employ all his whispering buddies etc and almost brought the club down.Hes brought a coach down, almost certainly the Chairman by years end...and diverted the cream of our juniors to other clubs most likely.Id struggle to work with him in any capacity going forward

No way. He won a comp with the rorters, did very well at the sharks from memory, started to change the eels disaster and then has moved in at the raiders to totally overhaul their pathetic rabble. His credibility is a lot higher than most.
