The Captaincy - Woodsie or Farah or who???

Whilst I don't think Woods is captain material, the fact is that he has been appointed as such. Taking it off him after one game would shatter his confidence, divide the playing group and cause unnecessary media scrutiny which would be sure to destabilize our season.

It was inexperience and an impetuous attitude that made those decisions. They can be fixed easier than the damage done by dumping a captain can.

Just watched it then

We get the penalty from 30 out first and the trainer made that call

Then we get the next from in front and I think they have just assumed they would do the same and took the quick tap ( which is what you want , not like when Benji and Robbie would have a two minute powwow and then kick it 10 metres backwards )

When you look as they take the tap , the trainer is racing out , I wonder if Taylor wanted them to take the two …..

You dont change the captain after 1 game no matter what happens(unless he punches the ref).He will learn and so will the team

you could imagine when they are crowding around the goal post waiting for goal kick against them after a try and the capt says:now I am not sure what you guys are supposed to do exactly but whatever it is do it well - don't ask me for advice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2Y9tMOsKP4

Cmon!
Its was the first game of the season and we won.
It was 1 bad decision when we were in front by 100!!!

Woods still got a few things to learn as captain, how bout we give him another chance, mmmm.

Indeed. I literally cannot think of a better way of learning lessons than making mistakes that cost you, but aren't ultimately fatal. Quick chat at the end of training, Woods goes away thinking "I won't make that mistake again" and we still have two points in the bag. Perfect.

"We're trying to build a team here that enjoys each other's harmony and moves up the ladder. There's a lot of work in progress," he said.
>
"There's a lot of work being done and there's a lot more that will be done to get this club back to where it should be, and that's playing semi-final football. And being led by Woodsy, we want guys like Luke and Mitch to take us there."

Have a read of this Byron..

Was this unnamed player you were watching with Robbie Farah???

Yes give the captaincy back to Farah, 4 consecutive years as captain where they missed the Finals. Woods starts off with a win, Farah is injured & also stated that he relinquished the captaincy and now because he wasnt demanding enough to take the 2 points in a game that was won you want to bring back your favourite guy… I really wish the internet wasn't available on Earth 2!

It was not that he wasn't demanding enough but that he may not have been interested in the decision, nor did he interfere when Moses dived on that ball. either to calm Moses down if he thought Moses wrong or to chat to the ref if he thought Moses was right. I suppose with having a passive captain and now passive coach they will not interfere with guys who really know what the game is about.

I only suggested Farah because I am not real familiar with other senior players (who is staying, who is hands on and smart etc.).

Of course it would be shocking to give and take away from a terrific player so let us hope he learns quickly enough. He has said previously that Farah will be there to seek advice from well just fortunate that we won anyway and he will improve even quicker when Farah is there.

I witnessed Cammy Smith blow up tonight at a few ref decisions he didn't agree with…have a guess what was the result in those decisions...

Maybe he doesn't get up in their face because the refs hate captains who challenge them and whine about every second decision?

I see there is now even a thread on negativity that I probably inadvertently contributed to, it was not my intention. I was just stating what I thought.

I am quite happy if this thread is deleted to help things stay positive as they have now become.

Due to having a swim before the game and working hard today in between upsetting bods here I managed to sleep through half the game (at the club) so I KNOW NOTHING

I actually think that being named captain might be the best thing for Woods to help him becoming the no.1 prop in the game. Extra responsibility can do wonders for young people.
