Your point is that we shouldn't sack him because he was appointed 6 months ago but he shouldn't have been appointed in the first place..and sack is a strong word. If Benji is actually serious a bout coaching, he'll do it the proper way and go coach reserve grade, assist for a few more years and actually be a head coach for smaller teams before coming into the NRL.

And in terms of setting standards, it is also something a basket case club would.do which is hiring a guy who hasn't coached in his life.

Great post. I agree with the word sack. It should be just a restructure with a long term vision. Prob for me is that I do t think Benji’s ego would allow him to do that.

I would be very happy if he did buy into that idea rather than just chucking the towel in and walking away if he was tapped on the shoulder.

What ever happens, I know we will be fodder for the media. Can’t wait for Anasta’s spin on it. Must be torn being mates with benji and hating the tigers at the same time.

They could have done this years ago but they needed to be told by a sponsor who turned the club inside out looking for answers.
imo, Benji needs at the very least another say 20 + games before a “please explain performance review“ and without pressure.
otherwise I think we’d be just repeating the same mistakes wouldn’t we? Having a 5 year plan, reducing it to 3 years then scrapping it for another knee jerk plan.

It’s not Richo’s plan though …I doubt Richo would have made the decision to bring back Sheens and install a rookie coach like Benji, but he has inherited it so he has to at least be publicly in favour ..until he isnt anymore and he swings the axe …

It’s a results based business …it doesn’t matter who you are …the best case scenario is that Benji may get his 20 more games …12 more this year and say 8 next season … if they start 2-6 or worse next year I expect him to be gone … However if we see embarrassing performances like last week too many more times ..he might be gone at the end of this season …we know what the media is like and they will be in a frenzy …it’s hard to ignore this negativity despite what Richo says …

I’m not very optimistic about him unfortunately as I would have liked him to have taken this team back to the Top 8… in a lot of ways Benji is the Wests Tigers … I just think that they are still years away from even that modest success… coaches at bottom teams don’t last long in any professional sport …rightly or wrongly they are always scapegoat number 1..

I agree with your comments and if the point comes it will be communicated as the board have pushed for the restructure of the coaching staff or something to that effect. Richo made a similar comment in a podcast I listened to recently about when he sacked Madge at Souths. It was the boards decision and the CEO delivers it.

Yeh, that's the thing isn't it it's not Richo's plan and history shows he's like a dog with a bone obsessive with the end goal. Tigers represents the final frontier for the coach who has achieved everything in the game and still has the courage to accept failure. The job would have suited Bennet.

That's how it's panned out. The salary cap was supposed to even thing up but I suppose the NRL couldn't imagine just how badly a club could be run
