The clubs next moves

As far as I am concerned, our only possible consolation is if we (a) replace the world's best fullback somehow (won't be as good, so be it) and (b) also sign a proper game-breaking star (e.g. Cronk, Johnson, Hayne).

Please don't even suggest buying Hayne. That's a can of worms the Tigers can do without.

I'd have a crack at him for sure. Couldn't get any worse! He'd be our best player by far (but that's not saying much).

Best player? Depends on the day imo. My big problem with him is attitude. I don't think he's the kind of player you want to have at the centre of a rebuild.

Almost 5pm and nothing official from the club. This is hilarious - squeezing every minute of the drama!

Am I the only one getting a glimmer of hope from this?

I'm not sure it meant the club would issue a media statement straight away. I could be wrong but I reckon we'll know after the game on Sunday if not today.

I don't expect the club to offer a statement today. It's clear that they won't be here next year. They will be announced elsewhere over the next couple of weeks.

Make of this what you will:

"While Jarryd Hayne is also open to negotiations from rival clubs, Fairfax Media understands the Tigers are reluctant to move on both he and Dugan amid fears of cultural ramifications at the club."

The press release said they would inform the playing group first. They won't be in a position to do that at 5:30 on a Friday. The press release also did not specify COB as the deadline.

I personal;ly would be looking at your players from the 20s comp and signing them for this year and maybe next year blooding them and seeing if we can find a diamond in the rough so to speak.

I like this approach. Start picking up the best young talent that we can. I'd look at the reserves comp as well.

Queensland Cup has some good players that will be good for depth, just look at Cody Walker. We may find that diamond that we are looking for.

Yep you wouldn't want to mess up that fantastic culture we have.

sooooooo….is it fair enough to say that I can head into my Friday night thinking Teddy is a Tiger still?

no news is good news right?

Pray for an earthquake to swallow this club up so we can start again from scratch

With Tede$co, Wood$ and Mo$es out of the way the club is starting up. The earthquake won't happen and the club won't be swallowed up.

With the huge available CAP money and the huge amount of off contract talent available Wests Tigers will have much better team of players and coach than it has had since 2010.

We will see Newtown , I can't see us attracting anyone of calibre

To attract talent you need some talent and it just walked out the door

No one will risk their careers at the Tigers , even the supposed 100% sured up Matulino has come out in the last 24 hours and said he isn't signed

Your wrong old mate…

- We've NEVER attracted talent, Bar maybe 3 - 4 players over the last 10 years,
And outside Gaz - They were reserve graders looking for a shot.
And the reason, We've been overpaying guys ahead of their earns since forever.
Let me say it again,

We've NEVER attracted Talent!!

As for the local young guns that are leaving us high and dry
- Well, no one has been lining up to play with them until now...
When and why would that have ever suddenly changed?
All we would have done is spend all our money on them (Same as we've always done) with nothing left to spend on putting a team around them - So they're left to do everything - And spent the next 5 years exactly where we've been before we realised that what we needed to happen is what has now happened.

Nothing against any of them, They can play.... And it's been a pleasure watching them all come through - I'll always keep an eye on them and wish them luck -
But they've been our mainstays for quite a while now... And nothing is changing.
Teddy is a star, and it will hurt a bit to watch him kill it...
But I can assure you a couple strike centres and tough back rowers will very much sweeten it all.

If we can buy 2.5 first grade props for the same money Wood$ is on - Then why wouldn't we?
He's only one guy...

Who is the Raiders James Tede$co? Who is the Dragons James Tede$co?... They don't have one.
They've built a team of guys who want to play for them - As a team.

Again, nothing against our guys.... But since the dawn of the club - We've had all our eggs in a very small basket and it SIMPLY HASN'T WORKED.

Wish the boys luck - But this is possibly the best thing that ever happened to us... Such a positive.

It will only take 1 buy - A guy that just oozes passion for the club and we'll be so, so much better off....

Great post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

X2 - I love this.

Just to add as well, what our club has done is seasoned some great playmakers - Teddy, Moses if you will. But hasn't focused on getting some big boppers to lead the way and some quality wingers/centres. In turn, we have struggled to make finals year in and year out because we don't have the depth nor the strength/talent across the park. Now when we lose our spine to other clubs who have finally bought into their talent, we are left with nothing because we've put all our eggs into these couple of dudes baskets.
If Cleary is aware of this same issue, then I have no doubt that this is a positive gig for us.

Ok, I don't normally play the hypothetical game but.

1\. Nofoaluma (loses the defence issue, has always been a fullback, keeps doing the dirty work in our own end.
2\. Go shopping
3\. Idris
4\. Suli
5\. Go shopping
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Graham / toleman
9\. mcillwrick / Liddle
10\. Muto
11\. Lawrence
12\. Aloai
13\. ET

14\. sue / seumanufagi
15\. mcQueen
16.grant
17\. tolman / graham
18\. liddle/ mcillwrick
19\. Felise
20\. Littlejohn
21\. Lovett
22\. Bayley Sironen
23\. Pick a junior
24\. Michael chee kam
25\. Pick a junior

Replacing Teddy Moses and woods for Reynolds, muto and graham / toleman

By dropping naiquima and hunt purchase 2 pay equivalent fast up and comers.

Nofa played fullback most of his juniors and held out teddy for a long while. Will do a great job and would be better playing defence there…

Not unreasonable I think....

Assuming the announcement comes that they are gone what do posters think the next short term moves from the club should be. Clearly there is a shattered fanbase who need positive action from the club. What should that be?
